Well, my first days of summer break have been just as glorious as expected. Monday after I got home from work (I didn't sleep at all the night prior because of video editing), I took a "nap" that lasted until 7:30 Tuesday morning. I got quite a bit accomplished on Tuesday (it's amazing what a little sleep does for the ol' brain-pan). I FINALLY set up my direct deposit from work and got the two months worth of paychecks they've been holding at payroll. Now I feel RICH! That was all pretty quickly spent on medical junk, however, since I was also super responsible and finally set up a payment plan with the hospital (I own them about $2000 from past hospitalizations, surgical consultations, etc.). Not necessarily the most fun thing to spend money on, but at least I'm actually making good with the hospital that is going to be responsible for my upcoming sinus surgery (because there's nothing worse than a surgeon going after your septum with a scalpel like some sort of jilted ex that's demanding child support...or some other simile that's way more hilarious than what I just came up with).
Work is more laid back this week than it was last week. I just got promoted to Technical Director (squee!) so I'm hoping that if I do have to go in for a tune-up at the end of this month, they'll let me out for a few hours to go to work on Mondays and Thursdays so I don't lose my position. Being TD is actually pretty simple, but it looks super fancy on a resume.
Tonight, my sister an I went to a simulcast of "Siegfried" (the Wagner opera that was performed at the Met). Rebecca (my sister) is an opera singer (finishing up her degree in performance), and she's seen all of the operas in this series. It was AMAZING! All of the technical aspects were just breathtaking (having been a technical theater geek since I was twelve, things like that always excite me). Here's a trailer for the whole series:

Holy crap, it's theater on steroids.
We snuck in some fancy popcorn for our fancy night out (green chile carmel corn and cookies and cream...I <3 Walker's Popcorn Co. in Albuquerque). All around, it was an excellent night.
And now I'm going to sleep because I realized on Monday how much I like to sleep on a regular basis. Seriously, it's great.
