Finals week and such...

I realized after watching 65_Redroses on OWN Saturday morning (I had class Thursday night and missed the first run), that even though I consider LiveJournal very important to me (I check it every day), I rarely post. Months will lapse in between posts of mine. So, it probably seems like I've given up on it, but I haven't. I just never really have much to say about my life. Recently, it's been pretty banal: go to class, go to work, come home, go to bed, repeat. I know a lot of the mundane nature of my life can be attributed to the fact that I've been struggling with depression for a while now, and I tend to shut down when I'm depressed. I don't communicate with anyone, and I spend an inordinate amount of time watching vapid reality shows hoping to numb myself to any emotions that come up. I'm working to break that cycle now, though. Maybe taking up posting again will force me to reflect a little bit more...be a bit more self aware.

Fortunately, I didn't completely torpedo myself this semester. I'm pretty sure that I'm going to pass all of my classes. For the first time ever in my academic career, I was honest with all of my professors. And, to my surprise, they were all very willing to help me succeed, despite my massive amounts of absences. If I am successful in all of my classes this semester, I will graduate in December, which will be a huge accomplishment.

All I have left to do before the end of the semester (which is Friday) is a research paper on "A Clockwork Orange", a paper on Cult Television (primarily X-Files, Doctor Who and Twin Peaks), and an animated short. I stumbled upon a new type of animation earlier this semester, and I think that's what I'm going to use for my final.

I'm glad to see that so many new people are coming to LJ because of 65_Redroses. The CF group here was really helpful to me when I was first diagnosed, and I hope that it becomes more active again.

Okay, I should stop procrastinating and start writing about operant conditioning in "A Clockwork Orange". Fun fun fun!
