Taking a brief moment to update since I feel like I never do (but wish I did).
Survived midterms by the skin of my teeth (my teeth have skin? Gross...). Got everything in on time and some modicum of coherent. My Film Theory paper (15 pages on the difference between French New Wave and Classical Hollywood narratives) nearly killed me, but here I am, living to tell the tale of how much I fucking hate Godard. Got two A's in History 101 (hooray, I'm passing a freshman level core class!). Not sure yet what any of my other grades are, but as long as I passed I don't actually care.
I spent all day today editing episode #3 of the webseries "New America". When we have the site up I'll post a link. The writer/director/star is a local actor that recently worked on "Breaking Bad" (if you watch the show, he's one of the many drug dealers that got axed last season). He's really fun to work with, but apparently having a script supervisor on set is not something that will be happening any time soon on this shoot. Oh how I long for a scriptee.... :'(
Tomorrow I've got an all day shoot scheduled with the National Geographic show "Doomsday Preppers". 7am call on a Sunday? Ah, being media manager is a grand job indeed. The most exciting thing about working on this show? The first employment packet they sent me had a pamphlet called "How to treat a gunshot wound". I was surprised to find that it was, in fact, very clear instructions about how to treat someone if, by chance, they get shot on set. I don't really know what I was expecting that packet to be since it was so clearly labeled, but still...let's hope I don't get capped for NatGeo!
So many things left to do. It feels like this mountain of work never gets any smaller. I'm not complaining, but I do feel just a wee bit overwhelmed some days. I CANNOT WAIT for Christmas break. I'm going to Austin where there will be booze, bar-b-que, and my best friend for a whole week. No school, shoots or such nonsense.
Now it's back to editing. I am the master of match on action. That is all.
