Despite war, my parents were able to spend a lovely Nayru'zu Ii'kai'zu together. That pleases me greatly, and I wish ali best for them in the future. Perhaps someday I'll find someone for me, too

It would serve you well to learn the difference between a good person and a good ruler. The king and his son may be the former, but they are certainly not the latter -- and it's the latter that truly matters in terms of running a country. A good person but a bad leader does much more damage, both physically and economically, for his country than a good leader who might not be very nice.
Oh...I don't believe so. A miare person has a strong heart and wishes to do better, so they do the best they can to improve and wish to improve; they try hard and their efforts show good results in the end. A 'good ruler' who is very unpleasant more or less finds themselves not being able to do better...probably because they do not have a good heart that guides them.
Then, by your definition, the King isn't a very good person; through the years, the condition of the kingdom has deteroriated, not improved.
A "good heart" means little when it's not coupled with a wise mind. A good-hearted fool can easily lead a city to ruin because they make a multitude of rash decision that, in the end, don't benefit their country.
Also, someone who may be personally unpleasant can still have noble goals in the grand scheme of things or have the desire for self-improvement. Your worldview is, I'm afraid, naive and overly simplistic.
I said he was a good person and I stick to that belief, still. If things have gotten worse, a change would most likely be in order, but I do not think to have him ejected from the throne is the proper way to do so, sir. Things will get worse before they get better as they always do, but given proper guidance and support I believe he will do just fine.
A good-hearted fool is one who listens to other voices other than the one in his heart. The heart always leads in the right direction if you listen to it carefully. Even if it seems illogical, the heart is always right.
Those unpleasant ones who have dreams miss out on a large piece of the big picture.
He won't listen to guidance and doesn't heed the support of those who would give it to him. Revolution is the only answer now.
The worst thing you can tell someone is to "follow their heart". It creates people who don't listen, people who are stubborn and can't see reason and end up hurting those close to them, and the subjects they're responsible for, in the process. The heart is not automatically right just because you want it to be.
I disagree. The "big picture" is what you seem to be missing. The big picture is that sometimes, the ruler has to be ruthless in order to get things done. The big picture is that it's possible to very genial and still be incompetent. The big picture is that sometimes the lines between good and bad are so faded as to be indistinguishable.
