you know nothing!

Today's Cinema & Modernity lesson consisted of a short crash-course on Art History (realism versus impressionism, anyone?) and the screening of Hiroshima Mon Amour, a 1959 French New Wave film that was surprisingly very good, but had the most bizarre and long-winded ending ever. As my most eloquent friend Douglas put, up until the last five minutes he'd "lost the will to live". Isn't it great when a film does that?

On a not-so-lighter note, I have my dissertation proposal form to hand in on Thursday. I enjoy the fact that one of my book titles contains the word 'psychopath'. My courses this year are nothing short of intense - I'll be surprised if I don't end up hanging myself in the new projection room come next April.

On an actual lighter note, it's my friend Lauren's 22nd birthday on Thursday. A group of us are going to her house for a party tomorrow, and, well, any excuse to bring a camera - expect some pictures of drunken Scottish lasses larking around and causing mahem.
