So, I live in Madison now, hey?

It's been almost a week, and I'm finally settled in to my apartment and my little immediate area. I live on the isthmus right between the two lakes east of the capitol, in an area that's all about hippies, co-ops, bikes and live music. Perfect! And, now that I'm settled in and still have a week and a half to go before classes start, I've got time to do some exploring here and there; I'm striking out a little further and further each time, and finding interesting things and getting more of a general feel for Madison. The whole Big-Ten-bro-dude scene is kind of off-putting, but I think my own area and the grad student population will more than make up for that. I hope so, at least!

Now I'm looking to make new friends (went to a party last night and made two, yay!), explore campus and my buildings specifically before the 1st, find the Freewheel Community Bike Workshop early next week, and find someone to play music with who will tolerate my slow progress on mandolin and maybe even tolerate my vocals. Yay!

Also, I have just fallen in love with Neil Young.

grad, madison
