BOOK REVIEW
DEBT OF BONES - TERRY GOODKIND
BOOK RATING: 5/5!
Since this was such a short book this will probably turn ou to be a very short review. I am so happy I finally decided to find this book at the library because I read the whole Sword of Truth series years ago but unfortunately, couldn't find Debt of Bones anywhere at home. Then I saw it on the shelf a few days ago and vowed to finally read it because I wanted to know the full story of the boundaries being put up. The whole thing is from Abby's perspective, not Zedd's. In fact as far as I remember it Abby isn't in any of the other books...just this one. It was quite a read to because she is so different than Kalan and Richard who pretty much are the main focus in all the different perspectives from the series. Despite her upset over Zedd's first decision, her whole opinion on the matter of the perservance of the lives of many over only one does change. It takes a long time but she finally sees the importance of the sacrifices Zedd has made.
I do have to say Zedd, as usual, restored my faith that there are good people in this world who not only try to do good, but are smart about it too. Zedd is so powerful but yet with that power he also holds honor and I just love that about his character. Not to mention his well-deserved "trickster" nickname. The whole time he had acted like it was his debt he owed Abby when it was actually the reverse but, in the end, he still did help her get her family back.
I didn't expect Abby to be the one that brought Zedd's daughter back to the Midlands. I thought Zedd had done it himself but it soon became apparent that Abby would've brought her back no matter what. Of course, that had something to do with the braclet that bound her to her debt that she didn't know about till the end of the book. Still, it proved how good of a person she truly was, despite the things she had said and done for Rahl so she could get her daughter back.
The one thing that I'm slightly confused about was whether or not the Mother Confessor was Kalahn's mother or grandmother. I have a feeling it was her mother but then again, I'm not sure how old Kalahn would have had to been when Richard was actually born and in this book, he isn't alive yet...but the daughter of the Mother Confessor is. So I guess it stands to reason that it's probably Kahlan's mother. It's just a little bit confusing. The Mother Confessor could have atleast told Abby her daughter's name so it would atleast be obvious.
I am very glad I finally got to read this book. It was a very good read, as all Terry Goodkind books are, in my opinion. I reccomend not just this book but the whole Sword of Truth series because I'm sure if you're head over heels for fantasy, you'll love it. So pick it up!
