Back from Bonnaroo

It's been a busy week. Last Tuesday Zach took me to feed the giraffes at Riverbanks Zoo, something we've been meaning to do for about a year and a half now. It was a lot of fun. Then I went to work, got off, and started packing. We left for Bonnaroo about two or three in the morning, stopped and napped for about three hours, and got to Manchester around 11 the next morning. We had a lot of fun while we were there. Luckily, we did meet up with Holly, Emily, and Stewart. Their campsite was definitely closer, but I kind of liked that ours was staff only and a little quieter. So we could have fun at theirs and chill at ours. The volunteering definitely wasn't bad. Zach and I got to work the same shifts at the internet cafe, and it was easy work. A lot of standing around in air conditioning. Two four hour shifts and one 5.5 shift. Not bad for a $270 ticket. I missed a lot of the shows, and most of them were out of laziness. I only missed OAR and Death Cab because of work. We went and saw MGMT, The Raconteurs, Rilo Kiley, Tegan and Sara, Chris Rock, I hung around for part of Metallica, The Avett Brothers, I missed Ben Folds to go with Zach to see some famous comedians that Zach knew, some of Jack Johnson, missed Pearl Jam to nap so we could see Kanye West but wound up missing him too, caught the tail end of Death Cab, saw par of Widespread Panic. I think that might be it. So bummed that The Allman Brothers wound up not going. All the people walking around selling shit still has me in an almost awe-like state. And everyone there was just so fucking nice. You could go up to almost any tent and people would invite you to sit down and drink a beer with them. There was a little bit of drama in our week. That wasn't too cool. Zach also sat down our staff shirts in the internet cafe and they got stolen. Also not cool. But other than that, good times, some good food, good music, etc. I didn't spend too TOO much money. It was for sure dirty as hell there though. So much dust and dirt and mud. Staff got free showers, but we were so busy and there was always a line, so frequent showering wasn't really an option. I don't know. I'm definitely wanting to go back again next year, and volunteering is a sweet ass option. Plus you get an extra day there when you volunteer. And you don't get searched. Yeah.

Aaron's trying to talk me into going to All Good, and I'm thinking about it. But nobody wants to volunteer with me, and $130 sounds like a good little bit when the only band I really know of going is The Avett Brothers. We'll see though.

Other than that, Tisch registration is on Wednesday and I really don't know what I'm doing. Zach was supposed to be leaving again in the morning, but it appears that that's not happening quite yet for reasons I'm not completely sure of. I leave for DC on Saturday for the Presidential Scholars award week. If anyone goes to DC in the next month, check out the National Portrait Gallery. Excerpts from my essays will be on display.

And yeah. Guess it's time to go to bed. After this past week, all I want to do is sleep.
