Hello, fellow babies.

This one is just kinda fun and silly. It’s a welcome to all the new subscribers I’ve gotten over the past, well, week, mostly. There’s a small amount of family history, and some histrionic sketches. No music, no Weeble, but there’s Johnny Fever!
Notice that in honor of the new folks, I actually pronounce the video’s final “G.”
For them as don’t get the penultimate line, go watch the episode I’m referencing. It’s available somewhere online, I’m sure, and it’s a classic.

Hello, brothers and sisters. I am OgreVI, and I’m having a bit of a Johnny Fever moment.
You guys remember Dr. Johnny Fever, yeah? He was the morning drive-time DJ on the old WKRP in Cincinnati. Mama was still in college the first season that show was on, and had class every week the night it aired. Pop would bring home some takeout and we’d all sit around the TV, eating and watching WKRP. When the show went off, it was time to go pick up Mama up at the corner of Harrison and Main.
These are happy memories.
In one episode there was a garbage strike in Cincinnati. Dr. Fever, like everyone else in town, was aggravated about all the trash piling up everywhere, and so he went on the air and said that everyone should just pack up all their garbage and pile it on the steps of City Hall.
And everybody did.
They came to the DJ booth and told Johnny about it, and he felt that the whole thing was an excellent joke. Then the song ended, and he turned on the mike, and…froze. He couldn’t speak. It had never occurred to him before that there were actually people out there listening to him.

A month ago I had nine subscribers, and they were all people I actually knew, people I’d had dinner with, gotten drunk with, people who had crashed on my sofa. A few days ago I had a few more, but still fewer than the candles on my birthday cake. Then Ancient Atheist promoted my most recent video. He has instructed me not to thank him, so I won’t. I will say, though, that I’d like to buy him a drink sometime.
Anyway, overnight I had, like, a zillion subscribers. Seriously, a ZILLION. Or, like, 150. Somewhere in there. A bunch, is what I’m saying. Felt like a zillion.
My first thought was, “Amazing. This is so cool. All these people will be watching my next video.” My second thought was, “Holy shit, ALL THESE PEOPLE WILL BE WATCHING MY NEXT VIDEO! What will I say? What can it be about?”
I had this vision of my next video being very “Ah. Uhhhhh…hmmm. Oh.”
Like I say, a bit of a Johnny Fever moment.
So, I went out to Mama’s. We sat around eating takeout Chinese and chatting. I told her about the whole thing, and not knowing what the next video should be about, and she said, “Why not do one about the Johnny Fever moment?”
She’s very wise. It’s good to have a Mama.

To all my new people: welcome to my channel. I hope you’ll feel at home, and that you’ll continue to enjoy my work. It is a great pleasure to see you all here. I’d like to take you home and kiss you all over in the dark.
Thank you for subscribing.
