Thursday night I delivered a pizza. I drove all the way out to the very furthest point in our ridiculously large delivery area to meet him, because he actually lives outside the delivery area. This seems silly to me. If you have to get in your car and go get the pizza anyway, why not drive to the store? But I’ll admit it is quite a trip, having had to make it myself.
I figured it was okay, because it would get me out of the store for a good while, and he would probably tip pretty well for such a long trip. But no, he tipped only a dollar. For a fifteen-mile round trip. Thanks.
Actually, I shouldn’t say “only a dollar.” In actual point of fact, he gave me something else as well: a religious tract. Thanks again. Why do Christians think it’s okay to do this? I mean, handing ‘em out at the airport or the mall or whatever is one thing, but forcing them on people who are working, who aren’t in a position to say what they think about it, that strikes me as being a pretty serious imposition.
Not to appear rude, I actually glanced briefly at the pamphlet before throwing it on the floor of my truck. It was titled, “What is a Christian?” I have the easy answer, brothers and sisters, and it’s this: a Christian is somebody who thinks that what he believes is more important than me getting paid for my work.
