...in which, what? Why would you do such a thing?

Ah, science.
Exciting news from the field of genetic manipulation:
Catching a cold is pretty much a fact of life. Some people, like me, appear to be more or less immune, but there are many others who seem to go directly from one cold to the next. And it’s sort of a modern truism that “science (or medicine) can do [insert amazing scientific achievement here], but they can’t cure the common cold!”
It turns out that science has an excuse for this, if not a particularly compelling one: mice can’t catch colds. They are, as a species, immune. No matter what you do to them, you’ll never get a single sinus headache or runny nose.
Now, you know how medical scientists are. If they can’t test things on rats and mice, they’re pretty much at a loss. Well, hold on to your hats, ‘cause this is pretty exciting: through the modern miracle of genetic engineering, scientists have managed to breed a race of mice that can, indeed, catch a cold. Woo hoo!!! It’s not enough, apparently, to give ‘em cancer or lobotomies or randomly alter their sexual orientation. Now we can give ‘em the sniffles, too.
Combining this information with my last entry, I’ve gotta say this: if God turns out to be some sort of rodent, we’re gonna have a lot to answer for.
