The Grand Ol' Update - With Pictures!!!

Nov 28, 2005 06:19

So here are some pictures from my trip up to and including a bit of Hoi An.

Here's a guy in Hanoi working to convince people to park their motorbikes at his place on the street.

Halong Bay, as seen from Surprising Cave. Note all the giant boats filled with tourists.

Here's a little stream, in the Citadel (Forbiddend City) in Hue. It was at this time that Alex said, "stop trying to take cool pictures".

The view from a pretty temple from our boat tour around Hue.

Same temple as above; this is me as a statue.

Eating a yummy lunch on the boat tour around Hue. The lady thought it would be a good idea to give me all the remaining food from the plates. I was slightly overwhelmed, but that's ok, it was good :) This is the same lady who was a fanatic cleaner and washed my feet and Alex's feet at different times and kept cleaning the floor even though it would just get dirty a few minutes later when we would return from seeing things.

The motorbike driver when we ran out of gas. This is just before he jumped on and putted away, leaving me by myself for several minutes.

In Marble caves on the way from Hue to Hoi An. They had really random little sculptures of people being tortured by demonic little beings.

A man sleeping in a cart in Hoi An. (Alex's picture)

On the way to the Sailing Bar in Hoi An. Motorbike drivers with Alex, the Kiwi girls Anna, Racheal and Pip and a French dude named Phillip making a nice face in the back.

So that's that. I guess it hasn't been long since I updated last. It feels like it's been ages though. Yesterday we finally went to the lake but we weren't able to do the boat thing so we went to a little amusement park next to the lake. There Racheal and I watched little children on rides, I ate some very dissapointing corn and we had some sort of sweet/salty bread-like thing. We also did go-carts, that was great.

As we were heading back to the hotel we ran into the others and decided to go for some drinks and dinner. We went to a variety of places and after a while just got some soju (horrible HORRIBLE rice-based liquor) and red wine and went back to the hotel. There good times were had. I was not feeling my best today but we went on a cool tour around Dalat where we saw the famous Crazy Monk, a minority village, a pagoda, a waterfall and went on a cable car ride. It was a nice day. Then we had dinner and now I'm here.

Tomorrow we head to Saigon. I can't believe that in 3 days Alex and I will be in Cambodia. I can't believe Vietnam is almost over. I definitely have experienced things I will never forget and really want to come back some time and get more out of the cities although those have been awesome.

Ok, too much computer. A good night of sleep is in order.
