Today was a fun day. Alex and I went on a boat tour thing through the Perfume River. We would get off at points and go look at pagodas, temples or tombs. I took tons of pictures :)
The unfortunate thing was that we had to pay each time we wanted to go to another site, and sometimes we would have to pay for motorbike transport as well.
The motorbikes were an adventure in themselves. It was raining today so the roads were muddy, and they drove really fast. At one point my driver ran out of gas so we puttered along and eventually stopped. We got off, he waved to other motorbikes to help him out then after some time he got back on and puttered away. So there I was, standing by myself in the middle of a dirt road, too far to walk back. I was a little freaked out but thought that it was funny more than anything. Eventually he came back with gas and finished the trip.
I love visiting temples and such, as soon as I walk into them I feel a great sense of calm. It's great :)
Speaking of great, everyone should check out this video, it's hilarious and I have spent far too much time watching it over and over again with my flatmates laughing histerically.
http://www.ebaumsworld.com/nutrigrainad.html Sorry, back to the trip. We also enjoyed some very yummy food. I love the food in this country. All this white rice and white bread is not doing wonders for my digestive tract but it's a small price to pay.
After the boat trip that lasted a good 6 hours, we came back to the hostel and chilled out while watching The Return of the King that was on TV then we ate dinner and came online.
Perhaps we should do stuff, explore, enjoy the city... but I'm so tired! I could fall asleep right now.
Tomorrow morning we head off to Hoi An where much shopping will be done :)
