I've become aware that I've spent enormous amounts of time in front of my computer over the last 6 or so years, just sitting here. I've also recently ceased to do this for the most part, but finding time consuming habits beyond such is kinda difficult, at the moment. Looking at it externally, how can someone really spend all that time simply sitting at a computer? How could someone wake up, and go straight to his/her computer and not leave for several hours? It seems to be such a wasteful amount of time (a waste of life, even), considering all the things somebody could do beyond sitting down (and typing).
What really brought this to my attention, although, is my roommate, who is worse than I ever was. He doesn't leave his computer unless for practically class or food; I rarely see him off it. Beyond that, he deems it necessary to constantly instant message people online, and thus constantly typing.. whether I'm trying to sleep, trying to do homework, or just anything really, it is currently one of the worst distractions in my life.
