Fun weather

So for those who read this and have lived in Ohio, you know about how we can have crazy weather just about any part of the year. The past week it has been fairly warm, upper 60's/lower 70's... kinda weird for early November, but it is Ohio.

Last night (or this morning I guess I should say), I was abruptly woken by a loud noise. After about 10 seconds of trying to come to my senses, I realized the noise was the tornado siren. I will admit for about 10 seconds I was a bit frightened... I walked into the bathroom and turned the light on and looked over at the tub. Then I told myself "fuck that, I'm not climbing into the tub." I was listening for what the weather was like outside and determined that there was little wind and no heavy rain/hail, so I went and turned the TV on. They mentioned the tornado was near Covington (NW of Troy) and heading NE. When I heard this, I realized it wasn't going to come close to me and I also realized it would miss my parent's house as well. Since they live in the country, they really don't get a warning unless they have their weather radio on. Being early November, I doubt anyone really expected weather like this. Apparently this line of storms created a tornado up near my Aunt's house in Sandusky (she said their sirens went off just before 7am) and of course one went through southern Indiana and killed 20+ people.

Tornadoes during the middle of the night were one thing that would keep me awake before, especially at my parent's house. They had a basement, but my room was on the 2nd floor and if we lost power first, there would be no warning from the weather radio. At least in town I have the city's warning siren.... but I have no basement :(.

So that was my exciting morning, I went back to sleep about 10 minutes after waking up, and used that rude awakening as an excuse to be a bum and sleep til 10:30 $$
