Much like 2009, this year was a year of doing things I wanted to do and mostly avoiding too much stress. I think there was a little more being sick (mostly, I suspect, to Hunter being in school) but still nothing like I had when I was working.
I read a lot of books this year. Mostly they were historical books, but I managed to splash a fair dash of Warhammer fiction into the mix, as well. I still haven't finished the stack I bought at the Times-Colonist book sale but I made a pretty good dent. Fooled with a good number of video games, as well... highlights would be Gran Turismo 5 and Red Dead Redemption on the PS3, and Starcraft II on the PC.
For film, I'd have to rate Inception and True Grit as standouts, with TRON holding a special place in my heart. Inception was the only film I saw twice this year. I did confirm that I don't much like 3D films, though.
In gaming, there was more wargaming and a good amount of Pathfinder played, though the motivation to play tailed off in the last month or so (along with the LJ posts). Pathfinder impressed with its update to the 3.5 rules, and I have to say that for all the story flow problems I've found in the tail end of Rise of the Runelords, there have been some very epic scenes played out.
The personal life got interesting, with my spending a lot of time with my female friends doing all kinds of things - Playland, concerts, bowling, exercise, clubs, etc. Meeting Amy and Erin this year stand out as highlights, but I have to really say that all the times I've been out with any of my friends have been fun and interesting. I really have come to value the female friendships I have, which I think help keep me young.
For new toys, the Canon 5D Mk II was the big thing, though my iPad has turned out to be very handy as well. Otherwise, there were no really big purchases during the year. Netflix pretty much dropped my DVD and Bluray purchasing to around 1 disc a month, thank goodness - I am running out of storage room.
And I finished out the year exercising and being active, as well as dropping about 20 pounds. Gonna keep that up into the New Year, and aiming to drop at least another 20 before the end of 2011.
Hope everyone else had a pretty good year, and has a better year to come.
