Day 15,332

Nov 15, 2010 23:25

Not a bad day, I think.
Managed to wake up feeling pretty decent considering I had been up until 5am. No ear pain, even!
Chantel's cellphone had died last night and since I still had my old Samsung from like 3 years ago collecting dust in a closet, I ran that over to her place for her to use for now. Seems like leaving a young women without the ability to text these days would qualify as cruel punishment.
On the way back home, decided to pick up an iPad. I've seen a couple in use by friends and thought I could use it for gaming. The MacBook air was working alright but proves awkward and creates a distance between me as GM and the players. After some futzing about, managed to get the Pathfinder stuff loaded on to the iPad and it worked pretty good.
Met up later with Amy at Juan De Fuca Rec Center to do some exercising. Worked about 35 minutes on the elliptical getting a good sweat. Amy's looking for a workout partner, and I could use the motivation.
Pathfinder went well. The party is 16000 feet up in the mountains, looking for the entrance to a secret magic weapons factory... They found it, and the old white dragon guarding the entrance. A rather amazing fight happened.
The dragon got frightened by a spell critical hit, the party cleric dimension doored himself and the monk some 400' out into the middle of nowhere to drop the monk onto the dragon. While the monk, as monks do, managed to grapple the dragon (intermittently) the cleric plummeted and only barely managed to have time to cast a fly spell on himself. Meanwhile, the ranger was putting deadly aimed precise strike vital shots from his musket into the dragon. When the dragon swooped back planning to take out the ranger, he got zapped by a disintegrate from the wizard.
Deciding to flee, the dragon beat wings to head to his cave... But the monk grappled him again, and the dragon crashed. This bought enough time for the ranger to finally put a last bullet into the dragon and end the fight.
I think once the party sees how much treasure is in the hoard they'll regret not getting a portable hole.
