Day 15,322

Nov 05, 2010 23:14

Had some Hunter time today, after class.  We went to Timeless Toys new location - they used to be tucked into a really tiny, cramped store, but recently moved to a larger location.  Hunter loves the place, since they have a couple areas with play tables for the kids to try things.  He played with the trucks and trains and the dollhouses - anything he could get his hands on.

We escaped with a LEGO Minifig, which he'd decided to spend his $4 of allowance money on.  He waited patiently in line, and handed the cashier his two twoonies and said thank you, so that was nice.  The best part was that he was happy with his purchase.

While we were eating some McDonald's chicken nuggets, they had the Breeder's Cup on, so I explained horse racing and betting to Hunter.  He told me he wanted to bet TWO HUNDRED MILLIONS of his money on horse number 10.  #10 turned out to be the favorite (7-5), but I explained that if his horse didn't win, he wouldn't get any money, and would have to pay the bookie his TWO HUNDRED MILLIONS of dollars.

We then got into a discussion about the vig, and enforcers, and how even if he did manage to break the head of the guy sent to collect, that'd get him in trouble with the police... so his best bet was to not bet his money at all.  Which he finally agreed to.  Given that #10 didn't win (finished second), it was all for the good.

After I dropped him off at home, I went out to my friend Jessica Conway's b-day dinner at The Keg, which was nice.  Got to wish her a happy birthday.

Came home, and watched some more of THE PACIFIC.
