I remember I tried to resist this 'ship but after the first couple of episodes there didn't seem to be any point anymore. I caved. I never felt any father-daughter vibes from them. I always thought there was some sort of mutual attraction between them, which of course neither of them dared to acknowledge, but the signs (small and not so small) are there if you're open to the idea. If not, that's okay, too. ... but the signs are still there! :D
Now I don't hate Adam at all, but he and Sam have no chemistry whatsoever (IMO). Their relationship felt kinda forced & rushed to me. I couldn't take that proposal scene seriously either. Let's hope Sam comes to her senses. I just can't see her being married to an aspiring politician. She & Foyle make so much more sense.
On of the reasons I believe so strongly in this ship is Foyle's reaction every time Sam is being treated unfairly or he feels that she is unhappy. With Farnetti when it was so clear that she was unsure, and when she was so ill. And then, more recently, when Milner was treating her so harshly. There's a tiny tiny bit of fatherly instinct there but I think it's a mask for a much deeper love.
Totally agree with you on the lack of chemistry with Adam. Sweet guy, but as a couple they totally lack that "vavavoom".
Yes, he's very protective of her. :) Also, there was this scene where she was going out, dressed up and all pretty, and he totally checked her out (and was visibly pleased with what he saw). I swear it's not just in my head! And when she went to pick him up and a woman answered the door, Sam looked pretty dejected until Foyle told her that she was his goddaughter. Most of my friends who are into this show think I'm nuts for thinking there might be something between them, but I still see it. I'm so gonna make a list of these little moments illustrated with a boatload of pics! That will show them I'm not crazy... well, at least not in a way they originally thought. :D
