Here it is folks - my very first attempt at a fanmix! Any and all comments and constructive criticism are more than welcome. The title comes from a passage in either Gaudy Night or Busman's Honeymoon, where Peter talks about stripping back the walls he'd built around himself over the years. I may follow this up with one of period music if anyone out there would be interested. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy!

01. You Owe Me Nothing In Return / Alanis Morissette
You owe me nothing for giving the love that I give
You owe me nothing for caring the way that I have

02. Foolish Games / Jewel
You're always brilliant in the morning,
Smoking your cigarettes and talking over coffee.

03. You Pulled Me Through / Jennifer Hudson
I was in the darkness, I was out in the cold
Seemed nothing could heal this, this hole in my soul

04. Easy Silence / Dixie Chicks
It's okay when there's nothing more to say to me
And the peaceful quiet you create for me
And the way you keep the world at bay for me

05. You / Switchfoot
And I find peace / When I'm confused / I find hope when
I'm let down / Not in me / But in You

06. Heavenly Days / Patty Griffin
Here's a little time we can borrow
Forget all our troubles in these moments so few

07. How Deep is Your Love / The Bird & The Bee
I know your eyes in the morning sun
I feel you touch me in the pouring rain
and the moment that you wander far from me
I wanna feel you in my arms again.

08. When It Don't Come Easy / Patty Griffin
But if you break down / I'll drive out and find you
If you forget my love / I'll try to remind you
And stay by you when it don't come easy

08. At Last the Secret is Out / Carla Bruni // W.H. Auden
At last the secret is out
As it always must come in the end

10. Sonnet 29 / Rufus Wainwright // William Shakespeare
For thy sweet love remember'd such wealth brings
That then I scorn to change my state with kings'.
