As of Saturday, I'm going on vacation for two weeks. One of my two cousins on my father's side (as compared to the 20 or so on mom's side) is getting married, and she (and my dad's only brother) has requested that we all try to make it.
Unfortunately, said wedding is in New Mexico. On July 17th. In Las Cruces, which is right down by the Mexican border. And might be outside.
Still, my folks and I have decided to make the best of it and make it an excursion. On Saturday the 10th, I'm driving down to Loudon, TN, where my parents moved after they retired, and we'll be making a road trip from Tennessee to New Mexico. We're planning to spend a couple days in Albuquerque, zip across the Arizona border to see the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert, and on the way back go to White Sands and Carlsbad Caverns. (And spend a night in Roswell, I insisted!)
I finally have a decent digital camera that can hold over 9000(!) photos at a decent resolution, so I'm going to try to be disciplined and write a daily photoblog for my friends out there on the Interbuttz. My dad is borrowing a laptop, hopefully most of the places we're staying will have wi-fi.
Let me know if you have any specific requests!
