“Tonight’s dinner will be prepared in 30 minutes, my Master. What would you enjoy having?”
His gaze stayed plastered to the pile of papers that were stacked in front him. Well, as an heir to a huge company, Jaejoong cannot ignore those contracts, reports, or even a letter of complaint that had arrived at his desk. Yunho smiled as he saw his Master put more than enough concentration into his job, rather than his own health. When he sure that his Master hadn’t heard his question, Yunho cleared his throat and asked once again.
“Anything will do. Just do your job properly as a butler.”
“Yes, my Master. Is there anything I can do to help with your paperwork?”
“Nothing.”
Suddenly, Jaejoong’s gaze moved from his papers to his butler’s eyes. He stared at Yunho, feeling disturbed.
“Please, can’t you finish your job as the head butler in this manor?”
“I’m sorry for my impolite behavior, Earl. I let you finish your job, but we’ll meet in 6.30 for your dinner. You should keep healthy-“
Suddenly Jaejoong threw his empty cup of tea toward Yunho’s head. Fortunately, he could dodge the cup, letting it crash to the floor. Jaejoong wasn't usually the type to throw things, nor hurt other people, so it was obvious to the butler that he was enraged.
“Out from my room now!”
Yunho quickly cleaned the mess and left his Master’s office. He walked to the kitchen, carrying pieces of broken tea cup in his hands. When he arrived at the kitchen, his co-worker asked him what happened in their Master’s office.
“Nothing real bad happened actually, Jihoon-sshi.”
The second butler of Kim manor, Joo Jihoon, looked really worried about the head butler’s condition. Moreover, he came back to the kitchen with a broken teacup and an unhappy expression.
“What happened with our Master?”
“He’s too busy with his work and I’m too busy to disturb him. That’s all.”
Yunho threw away the broken tea cup and started to prepare for his Master’s dinner. He rolled his sleeves, adjusted his glasses and picked some vegetables to be chopped. Then he filled a huge pot with water and boiled it.
“What will you prepare for dinner?”
“Maybe just a simple dinner for our busy Master.”
“Can I help you?”
Yunho smiled at Jihoon and offered him a knife.
“Of course you can. Adding a pair of hands will be a big help to me.”
Jihoon’s eyes caught a glimpse of blood stains on Yunho’s white gloves which the head butler seemed to ignore. He looked so surprised and wanted to apply a bandage to prevent any infection. Right before he put down his knife, Yunho stopped him.
“Where do you want to go? We just have 25 minutes more to prepare dinner.”
“But-“
“Finish this dinner preparation first then you can do whatever you want.”

“Excuse me, my Master. The dinner is already served at the dining room now.”
Yunho knocked on the door from outside of his Master’s workroom. After he heard a faint ‘yes’ from his Master, he stepped aside from the door to wait for his Master to come out from his room. Soon, a ‘click’ echoed in the corridor and his Master stepped out from his room. Yunho bowed to him and followed his Master, who walked to the dining room. His Master started a conversation without turning his head to meet with his butler’s face.
“My work has been finished already. Thanks for not disturbing me earlier.”
“Yes, my Master. Sorry for the inconvenience I made before.”
“Don’t worry. Forgive me for my rudeness.”
“A Master shouldn’t have to ask forgiveness from his butler. It’s already an honor to be able to serve you even in your worst condition.”
“Glad to hear it.”
Yunho could see that his Master smiled contentedly from his side view, but he was sure it wasn’t a pleasant one. Soon, they arrived at the dining room and Yunho still followed him to serve his seat. Later, he prepared another cup of tea for his Master.
“A cup of rosemary tea for your health, my Master. It helps you to clear your mind, especially after working until this late at night.”
“Thanks for your concern.”
Jaejoong started to eat his dinner silently. Yunho who was some steps beside his Master’s seat now stood beside the dining room’s door. He would wait until his Master finished his dinner and then follow him again to his bedroom. Afterward, he would serve Jaejoong till his Master fell into a deep slumber.
“Have you finished your tasks today?”
“I have. They were done before dinner’s preparation, my Master.”
“Good.”
Jaejoong arose from his seat and went to the door. Seeing that his Master had already finished his dinner, Yunho instantly opened the door and let Jaejoong step out of the dining room first. At the outside of dining room, there were already two servants waiting to clean up after the meal.
“Please take care of our dining room.”
“With all of our pleasure, Yunho-sshi.”
Yunho nodded to Risa, the only maid who worked in Kim manor. He gave her the silver tray he used before to serve his Master’s tea and walked faster to chase after Jaejoong who had already went to his room. To his surprise, Jaejoong was waiting for him not too far from the dining room.
“You walk quite slowly, you know?”
“I’m sorry to make you wait, my Master.”
Jaejoong started to walk and Yunho followed him from behind again. Not like the times before, Jaejoong was quieter and looked gloomier. After they arrived at the bedroom’s door, Yunho passed Jaejoong and opened the door for his Master.
“Thanks.”
Jaejoong entered the room and passed Yunho who stood beside the door. Hearing the faint thanks from his Master, Yunho smiled then closed the door. Jaejoong had already sat on his bed, waiting for his Butler to open his suit. Yunho slowly approached Jaejoong and knelt in front of him to change his Master’s attire.
“Why won't you be more dependent on me, my Master?”
“Why are you starting another confrontation with me?”
“I’m sorry, sire. There’s no one watching us right now.”
Yunho chuckled and opened his Master’s suit. Jaejoong arched a brow at the butler's cheeky remark. Yunho changed his expression again, as he calmly finished changing his Master’s clothes into his pajamas.
“Time sure passes so fast for us. It’s already 2 years since Mom and Dad left me.”
“But, I’m here to accompany you, my Master.”
Suddenly, Jaejoong cried and took Yunho’s palm into his hands. He cried for a few minutes and they held their
positions until Jaejoong finished letting out his tears.
“Are you feeling relieved yet, my Master? You cry more often now.”
“I don’t know, Yunho. Suddenly, it hurts so much when I remember the time when they left me. I was so unprepared for everything it takes to be an heir, for the manor, the family and the company. Why were they so cruel to me, Yunho? Why?”
Yunho smiled somberly while listening to his Master’s story. Slowly, he wiped Jaejoong’s tears from his cheeks and kissed his Master’s eyes. As Yunho took to the task of calming his Master, Jaejoong eventually stopped his sobs.
“Don’t worry, my Master. They left for a reason. To make you a better person, for the family, the company, even for the Queen.”
“I’m still only 19 years old, Yunho!”
“Ssshh…A good Earl shouldn’t shout this late at night. Remember, you love me, my Master. You love me.”
Suddenly, Jaejoong stopped moving, he was shocked. Yunho moved forward and kissed him. They kissed timidly, as if their lips had never met before, but Jaejoong took it further when he reached for the back of Yunho’s neck, pulling him closer. Slowly, Yunho took dominated the kiss, pressing his Master back against the bed. Soft moans and groans filled only the room. They breathlessly exchanged saliva in their passionate embrace; minutes passed. Yunho suddenly stopped when Jaejoong tried to open his suit’s button.
“I’m sorry Master. This is too late to be doing this right now, it won’t be good for your health.”
Still in the position of Jaejoong lying on his back and Yunho holding his Master’s hand above his head, the butler smiled. Yunho got up from the bed and tidied his butler suit while his Master just snorted, showing his disappointment.
“You’re really tricky, Jung.”
“That’s why I was hired to be your butler, sire.”
Right before Yunho stepped out from his Master’s room, he was hugged tightly by Jaejoong.
“Thanks for your loyalty.”
Yunho turned over and knelt once again for that night in front of his Master. Slowly he took Jaejoong’s right hand and kissed the top of his palm.
“That will always be my pleasure, my Master.”

After Yunho made sure that his young master was sleeping and comfortable enough with the room’s temperature, he left and closed the door quietly. Minutes passed but he still didn’t move from that position. Suddenly, someone called him.
“Has Young Master fallen asleep already?”
“Yes, he has. Thanks for today’s help, Jihoon-sshi.”
“You looks so tired, Yunho-sshi. Allow me to take care of your night task.”
Yunho smiled and shook his head unhurriedly yet surely.
“It’s you who should take a rest first. Why are you still awake?”
“But-“
Yunho walked first to his own workroom and left Jihoon behind. Knowing that Yunho ignored him, Jihoon ran to follow him and tried to talk again.
“What about your injury?”
“I’ve taken care of it. If you’re so persistent to be awake now, why don't you help prepare for tomorrow’s breakfast instead of worrying uselessly about me?”
From afar, Jihoon could see the head butler’s injury wasn’t taken care of enough. Even in the dim light, he could see that the stain had grown.
“May I excuse myself to do my last job, Jihoon-sshi? There is none in the world who can serve our Young Master like I do.”
