One day in January, Jacob and Sam went to one Iron Chef Morimoto's restaurants, because Jacob is obsessed1.
After dining, to reduce the effects of the sake and pilsner consumed, they wandered around the mall it was located in. They visited the Lego store (which amazed them) and a fancy pen shop, and several jewelers. "What kind of ring would you like, dear?" asked Jacob. But between her love of opals (which were too fragile) and hatred of the diamond industry, Sam was at a loss for an answer.
Continuing they journey, they came upon a shop filled with ceramics, most prominently several Japanese
style tea sets. Sam then turned to Jacob, and said "dear, I don't want a ring, I just want a tea set!"
The day before Valentine's Day, a package arrived at Sam's house that contained a lovely tea set from the nearby Asian foods
market.
Sam accepted.
