Yes, I know. It been years, the show's over, the fandom's gone dark, it's a day late and a dollar short - like I said, I know. The thing is, I don't care. Because every time I watch Firefly little plot points just jump out at me and scream "pay attention!" and I can't help but do so.

Well, then why not read just read fanfic? Right

...although I think that your canon instances show more that Simon is a good chess player who can think a few moves ahead.

Oh definitely. I wouldn't doubt he's amazing at chess and is a really amazing strategist (as evidenced in Ariel.) What interests me are the moments where you really can't explain how Simon got to that line of thinking.

For example, while I was writing Part One, I constantly was stopping at each point and, while all of them made me go WOAH!, a lot of them can be explained rationally. Which makes sense, if anything was going on with Simon it would be ridiculous to reveal it right away. Yet, I've made a list for each episode and some of the episodes that I haven't written out yet have these moments where I'm hard pressed to rationalize how he got there. Gah, it's so difficult to explain without giving examples and I don't want to spoil part two. xD

In any case, what interests me even more is River (before her telepathy was revealed) was shown as very perceptive and then it turns out her perception is telepathy it's like "of course!" And now here's Simon, very perceptive - just not with anything happening now.

xDD anyway~ I don't even know if I'm remotely right but it makes me cackle regardless. (And oooh, I saw that story. ♥ )
