MEME-TIME!: Post a single sentence from each WIP you have (or as many as you want to pick). No context, no explanations. No more than one sentence!
1. She had always been told she was good at playing pretend-she could have been an actor, a dancer, a muse.
2. River can practically hear his heart beating desperately as he backs away.
3. If there had been more time, and if half of the government wasn’t trying to crucify her (both literally and figuratively), River would have liked to stick around for a few days.
4. He never used to get nervous too much, but there was usually that one girl four rows back and... River used to tease him endlessly because she always knew.
5. “No, ‘Animals, enslaved by love, lost their native vigour’, ‘thou hast dug for him seven and seven pits!’-there’s not enough time in the ‘Verse to play games right now.” His voice grows serious as he finishes.
6. Behind her stood a man in no better condition than she with his hair matted with water and he had a sickly pale face that spoke volumes of long, sleepless nights.
7. Enraged echoes race upon the walls and die. The stones shiver in fear- almost groaning in agony- and go silent.
8. So many unhappy faces, he didn't know what to do…
9. No one remembers the first night, but only because no one wants to talk about it.
10. Two hours into settling into their new home and already Janus somehow managed to find himself in trouble.
11. When the gate finally closes for good behind them they’re practically blind in a world that few have walked for centuries and they’re packed close together like frightened chelan trying to ward away danger.
12. Silence engulfs the world, creeping into every nook and crevice, grip tenacious and understanding, quiet, longing.
13. The combination makes Jared’s name sound like nothing more than a sigh, Jared tilts his head as if to catch it before it can fade away.
14. Instinctively, Sam rummaged through his pockets for his phone and began dialing Dean’s number before he even realized he had found it (because he wasn’t ever sure how to ask Dad for help).
15. So he stands there, dumbly staring back hoping to whatever higher power that’s listening that he doesn’t look as lost and heartbroken as he feels.
16. He paused to peer at the other man for a moment; it was as if someone had cut all the strings holding Dean’s shoulders.
17. He couldn’t even use his old transcripts either because to everyone’s knowledge Sam Winchester was twenty two and, oh yeah, dead.
18. The smaller version of Sam turns his head; slow and painful even though Dean can’t hear any bones crack (because Sam’s just fine) until his eyes are focused on Dean, wide and bloodshot as if he hasn’t slept in weeks.
19. Then, a mob of freaks tried to eat him alive (literally) and now he had to swim across a body of water of an unknown size with an unknown depth and who the hell knows what swimming beneath the surface in a dark and 'shit-your-pants' scary hallway.
20. It is still cold, and he is beginning to feel an aching in his bones.
