Well, damn.

After meeting a few dangerously armed men, wolfly Firekeeper got shot dead. She lived less than a minute after being shot.

So here she is, dead on the floor. And no melting back to human shape for her - she's still very much a wolf.

Anyone wanting to deal with her may, by any means.

So here's Remus, kneeling down by her body and looking at it quizzically. "I hope these people aren't out during full moon," he notes, though it's mostly to himself.

Here's a Jaenelle, who sees the dead wolf and her eyes get instantly chillier. "Who did this?" She asks in a midnight voice, dropping to her knees and laying a hand on Firekeeper's shoulder.

"I don't know," Remus replies softly. "I just came in here and found her like this."

A quiet chill brushes her eyes and her voice as she reaches out to brush her hand across her head. She shakes her head, a sad smile flickering. "Was she a friend?"

"I'd met her a few times." He sits, then, stroking the wolf's fur lightly. "There are other wolves here, though. I suppose I'm worried on their account as well."

Mabon, who slips out of almost nowhere, just looks irritated. On him, that's fairly scary. He kneels beside her, and draws her away from Remus into his arms.

Remus just nods at him, watching quietly. "You'll take care of her?"

Jaenelle examines the stranger and seems to, strangely, relax. She settles back on her heels. "Other wolves. If I knew where they were, perhaps..." she sighs. "I'd have to speak to them." She glances at Remus. "You're here," she remarks. "The humans I've met don't like wolves, particularly."

He shrugs and gives her a small smile. "I'm not most humans."

She smiles back at him, her sapphire eyes softening a little. "Neither am I," she says softly.

"I'm Remus." He stands and offers her a hand, smiling.

Jaenelle stands also and shakes his hand with a genuine smile. "Jaenelle."

"I've heard about you from Khardeen. It's nice to finally meet you."

She grimaces slightly. "Oh, dear. That's just like Khardeen. Was he saying anything bad about me?" She gives him a smile, though, her eyes brightening. "Thank you. You make me feel almost famous."

He laughs. "No, nothing bad. Don't worry." He gives an almost shy smile back. "I know Rainier and Daemon as well, but Daemon mostly by sight."

"Oh, good. It would be just like Khary to say something bad about me when he's the one always getting in trouble." She gives him a wry smile. "I hope Daemon's behaved himself. And I'm sure Rainier has - as much as he ever does."
