Character Information

General
Character's Name: Midna aka The Twilight Princess
Fandom: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Character Personality: In describing Midna, Eiji Aonuma ( Game Producer) called her "tsundere", which means a character who is snobby and cruel but grows to become sappy over time.  When he first meet Midna, we see her as a mischievous imp. We soon discover that she is an imp both the literal and figurative sense.  Her desire to save Link from the twilight realm comes only as a result of personal gain. With the knowledge that the the chosen hero would appear to the Twili as a wolf, she set out to manipulate Link into helping her without so much as a care as to what happens to him or the realm of the light. She is not afraid to dangle the fates of Link's loved ones in his face as a way of making him do as she wants, in fact, later on in the game she insists Link must become her slave and do everything she says.

Midna is hardly afraid to speak her mind, she speaks up for what she believes in and often out against what she hates. This only touches on Midna's spit fire attitude and short temper. When angered she can really be a forced to be reckoned with, even with the odds greatly against her.

Deep down Midna harbors other feelings that she speaks of very little at first. Having been cursed by the usurper Zant, Midna harbors a great deal of guilt in not being able to help her people and leaving them behind. She is deeply devoted to her people and her realm, her pride also leaves her with a slight bitterness towards the realm of Light and the people who dwell in it.  This is something that can be seen again, by her rude and often cruel comments towards Link about the world he lives in and the Princess who rules over it.

A lot of her hate and bitterness come to melt away when Midna is exposed to the Light and almost dies. The selfless act of Link risking his life to bring her before Princess Zelda and Zelda's sacrifice to save Midna shows Midna that all of her previous beliefs about the people of the Light Realm were wrong and that she was not just out to save her own realm but both the light and the twilight. Midna now becomes willing  to share with Link who she is, where she comes from, and how this all has effected her.

Midna is at heart a self-sacrificing person who is concerned with the well being of her realm, her people, and her most trusted friends. Her devotion is only second to her ability to work towards her goal. She remains focused and dedicated as any ruler should be, and yet even after she regains her true form we learn that the Princess still possess a playful side.

Character History: Twilight Princess and Midna

History From Siren's Pull: Midna arrived in Siren's port on November 3rd, 2010. Pulled in by a mysterious thing known as 'the Core' and into a time period far into her future, Midna was forced to adjust as best as a young woman could. She told little people of her status as royalty and came to live on her own for a period of time. Her intial months were kept to keeping a mostly nocturnal schedule (sleeping during the day and being awake at night ), which in Siren's Port meant having to avoid an arry of monsters that appeared in the evenings. She came to make many friends and even took a job delievery things to those who paid for her services during the evening. Over time, she came to accept her new life in the modern world and city ( a place she could never leave thanks to 'the pull' something that would kill a person if they went too far away ). She will probably intially freak out over believing that 'the Core' still has some hold on her, but for the most part, and especially with her friends around, Midna will adjust all the same to her new life in Demeleier's universe.

Point in Canon: After breaking the Twilight Mirror and vanishing through to return home at the end of video game. However, Midna was swept away to Siren's Port, Canada in the year 2011. She has spent nearly a year living in this world.

Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities:
Midna has a variety of powers from her tribe's shadow magic, which include:
  • The ability to use her hair like a hand to grab enemies or perform other functions, like opening doors, moving other objects ( even thouse quite larger than herself ). She is also capable of grabbing something from outside the Twilight and pulling it into the Twilight.
  • Psychokinesis - various portions in the game involve Midna grabbing large items with her hair and then transporting them over vast distances. When goes to remove these items from the twilight portals she tends to levitate them down from the sky and drop them in to place. She can move other smaller objects easily with small waves of her hand.
  • Making use of Twilight Portals, the portals she finds in Demeleier  will not lead out, but she will be able to make use of them to travel through the world.
  • Levitation - While in Imp form Midna tends to float a few inches off the ground and she can lift herself at least 10 to 15 feet high.
  • Pocket Dimensions - She has been seen to be able to keep the Ordon Sword, the Ordon Shield, and the Shadow Crystal and have it reappear floating in her hand at will. She may use this power to store Link's items while he is in wolf form. She's basically capable of being a walking bag of holding.
  • The ability to hide in the shadows of light dwellers and appear as a shadow in the Light World. This ability keeps her from being seen in the day time, as light can cause her to become deathly ill.
  • Creating waves of energy strong enough to break metal. It's minor magic at best, Midna is not capable of breaking through thick sheets of metal. However things like bars are easily passable. She can even break down her body into "twilight particles" and just pass through them.
  • Mimicry - Midna has the ability to disguise herself as other people she's met for short periods of time. It is a skill she tends to use to be more mischevious or get her way. She reminded Link that he needed to keep fighting to protect the ones he cared about, and changed into a few of his friends from home.
  • The Shadow Crystal - With the crystal in her possession, Midna is able to freely change Link into a wolf and back whenever he wishes. However, she will not do so in places where there are people watching, as it would frighten the bystanders.
  • The Fused Shadow - It is the physical manifestation of extremely powerful Shadow magic created by an "ancient race" and once used by a group known only as the 'interlopers'.  This power was sealed away by the Light Spirits, once it was put back together Midna was able to use it's power to break the barrier that been erected around Hyrule Castle. Sadly,  during her encounter with Ganon she is defeated and the shard she and Link put together is shattered. Only the original section she had in her possession (the helm on her head as an Imp) remains intact.
  • Conditional: Upon Midna's arrival in Siren's Port, she was granted a boon or curse ( depends on how you look at it ) so she could survive in the day light. She is stuck in her familiar Imp-like form for the duration of the day. Her powers are slightly dimished and over the course of the year she has gained increased tolerance to being out while in direct sunlight. When the sun sets, she transforms back into her normal form. If this is ok, I'd like to keep this extra ability in place.

Inventory:  Considering Midna has the ability to carry quite a number of items in her pocket dimensions she has a fair amonut of items on from her time in Hryule where she adventured with Link. She's never had a reason to discard or given them away, nor is she the type to allow them into the wrong hands. She also has a few items in her possession that she picked up in Siren's Port. The list of items in her inventory is as followed:
    • Game items - Ball & Chain, Bombs, Bottles(2x - Empty, 1x - Milk), Clawshot, Dominion Rod, Gale Boomerang, Fused Shadow Helm*, Iron Boots, Lantern, Ordon Sword, Ordon Shied, Shadow Crystal*, Slingshot, Spinner, and Zora Armor.  (Note: Out of all of these items, I already know the Ball & Chain and Iron Boots will go missing upon her arrival because of their material. If this list is too large I would like to request she at least keep the items I have asterisked.)
  • Siren Port Items - Apartment keys, NV Device (appears to be a book, would no longer operate in Demeleier), and Money amounting to the sum of 5,000 candanian dollars (what's a bank?).
  • Appearance: Imp!Midna and Normal Midna.

The sudden rush to the head has the world spinning out of focus, it's enough to make her spin in a circles a few times as she fights to stay upright. The cause of her sudden nausea and ache in her temples was unknown, travel from the realm of light into the realm of twilight had never caused her to feel sick before.

As the world came into focus around her, Midna could not help but stare in shock as she found herself standing in the middle of a very peculiar shaped field. Even more shocking was the sight of tall buildings in the distance and the lack of anything familiar. This was not the realm she had just left, nor was it her home. A sudden pit of worry and fear took root in her stomach and the Princess fell to her knees in the dirt of the base ball diamond.

They had just fought so hard to get everything back! She could feel the anger and the frustration building deep down where her fear had once been. The last thing Midna was afraid of was crying, even when she had lost everything she had never cried. The Twilight Princess sucked in a deep breath and rose to her feet. Hands clenched into tight balls, she walked on determined to discover exactly where she was and what was going on. Her people were waiting for her to return and they had already suffered enough.

Not long after the greeter left her at the door to her temporary living quarters did Midna slip inside to do a bit of reading on her NV. The device had taken on the form of a very old book, it's cover some sort of black metal with teal glowing sigils that matched the kind of markings on her body. She was surprised to find the inside written in the language of her people, this thing had truly been made for her alone. That fact, hardly made her feel better about her current situation. In fact, it made her more mad.

She flipped a few more pages and rolled her hands over the shimmering glyphs and watched them changed from off to on.

[Midna blinked at the book beneath her. It was glowing all the more after she lifted her fingers away. It was on? What did that even mean? Midna narrows her red eyes down at the book and notices another word flashing in the top corner of the page.]

Record? What exactly are you recording?

[She pauses a moment as she watches her words written out in real time. As she speaks.]

    Oh! I see ~ kukuku.

[She laughs, obviously amused by the device all of a sudden.]

This must be what the greeter meant by communication. Is anyone else out there ~ perhaps one of you wouldn't mind sharing a bit a information?
