2010: Reading what I want

Jan 06, 2010 10:43

Last year I didn't read much at all. And I think I forgot to keep track of everything I did read, in fact. 2009 was the year Knitting took over as my number one free time activity. Knitting totally stomped all over everything else. But I'd like to have 2010 be a year in which I find a balance between all my hobbies. So hopefully I'll read more books.

There'll be a mixture of books. YA and kids books from my workday. As for my personal reading: Mysteries will still be my goto escape genre. But I'd like to introduce myself to fantasy, I think I would love it, but I've never really tried it out. (so if you are reading this and have a great fantasy series to recommend, please let me know!) Also this year, I want to read some classics: The couple of Dickens novels that I never got around to, for example. Mainly, I want to read the books on my bookshelves that have just been collecting dust. There are many. Last year when I did read, I sort of got trapped in to reading popular books people lent me just because. They were good, but not OUTSTANDING. This year will be about what I WANT to read. Right now I'm reading Perfume by Suskind. This is a book that was lent to me by a coworker, but it's also been on my To Read list for forever, it's something I want to read, so it's a good transition from last years debacle and in to my fresh new year of reading.
