Duck sidles over to Carlisle and puts her hand up to he mouth, glancing nervously around at the other team members.

"I, um, I DON'T REALLY KNOW HOW TO PLAY."

"You must be Duck," Carlisle sidesteps the proclamation with professional ease and a smile. "There are plenty of people here who have never even heard of the game before signing up, so we will work with what we have. I'm glad you're here."

Duck seems...kind of adorable, really. Not that he'll tell her that.

"First off -- do you have any magical skills or special powers I need to know about?"

"Magic powers! Me? I don't, I mean, um, well . . . ."

Duck flounders for several moments. Is the duck thing going to be relevant?

Come to that, is the Princess Tutu thing going to be relevant?

It doesn't really seem likely that a heartshard is gonna be on the baseball field, so . . .

"There's sorta something but it's kind of a secret and it's only really important some of the time and not for a game or anything!"

Oh-kay.

"All I need to know is if there is something that we need to change the rules of the game for to accommodate."

Carlisle starts to smirk a bit. "You're not going to suddenly fly away are you?"

"Uh, well, I can't really fly ye-e-"

CARLISLE IS SNEAKY. Duck slams a hand over her mouth and stares at Carlisle. DOES HE KNOW?!?

Carlisle looks just as astonished.

"Um.

"So...'Duck' is...accurate, as names go."

[reallyaduck]

"IT'S A REALLY BIG SECRET," Duck explains in a hissed undertone, waving her arms frantically (despite the fact that at least four people in Milliways alone have already discovered it). "PLEASE, PLEASE PROMISE YOU WON'T TELL!"

[ofthefamily]

Carlisle raises his right hand; Hippocrates all over again.

"I swear on my Mantle baseball bat that I will never tell any of your secrets to anyone."

Leaning in: "So long as you don't try to cheat at the game. I promised Meg and all."

[reallyaduck]

"Oh no, I wouldn't ever!" Duck says, wide-eyed.

"Uh . . . I don't think a duck can really hold a bat anyway . . ."

It'd be hard to think of a helpful kind of cheating that being a secret duck could accomplish.

"Then we'll be all set."
