Challenge Day

Sep 22, 2005 15:20

Whoooo. A deep breath out is the best thing I can do right now.
The people who come into our school and devote their time and energy to improving the lives of young men and women deserve praise and appreciation. I consider myself to be a good person generally - caring, empathetic, loving. This just makes me want to be ever better. I want to break down barriers everywhere - awkwardness and separation have no place in our world. The resistance you feel when you just want to reach out and put your arm around someone is a wrong thing. There's nothing stopping you from showing another being that you care. End the marches through life feeling alone. It needs to stop. As brothers and sisters on the planet, it is necessary to come together before we can go forward. To all the people who touched my life today, to any whose lives I've touched - thank you, and I love you. The world is a better place with you and I in it, and we all know that now. Spread the word - kindness and love need to prevail for humanity to stride forward.
I'm so grateful to have experienced this, and to have met so many wonderful people.
Anyone who couldn't make it to challenge day this year .... pick up on the feeling you get from people who went. Pick up on the love, the respect, the togetherness. Pick it up and spread it around. Anyone seen the movie Pay It Forward? Like that. Please please please tell everyone you love that you love them. Please hug everyone around you and never tear anyone down.

For myself - I'm going to stop swearing. Period. It's unnecessary so if you see me doing it, stop me alright?
I just want everyone to be happy and feel safe like they did today in that room. Help me out.
