I have knit two cardigans in the month since the Bar exam.
A scene from last night:
Me: (as I finished the last stitch on the Shalom cardigan) "I am a sweater-knitting machine."
Paul: "Now I want proof that you're really human and not the Alex Knitting Bot 9000."
And then he started making robot noises. (It was a little bit awesome.)
ANYWAY. Photographic proof of the FOs. Don't laugh too hard, the bathroom had the best light. And I look SO COOL standing next to the shower curtain.
The Kaleidoscope of FREEDOM
Yarn: Knit Picks' Gloss, fingering weight, in Burgundy. About 4.7
Pattern:
Kaleidoscope (ravelry link), and a link to
my Ravelry project page.
Mods: I made the sleeves full length, and I made the neck higher, so it wouldn't be falling off my shoulders.
I have the buttons (ten of them) for it, but I haven't sewn them on yet.
Shalom Cardigan (of Coming Full Circle With This Yarn)
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Chunky, in a cranberry red color. Bought the yarn in 2007, and I don't think I have any of the ball bands floating around anymore.
Pattern:
Shalom Cardigan (ravelry link), and a link to
my Ravelry project page.
Mods: Full-length sleeves. Three buttons in the yoke (which still need to be purchased). I played with the number of stitches on the top of the sleeves at the "bind off" stage, as well as the number of stitches underneath the armholes, which made the bust size larger and the sleeves MUCH smaller. Those cap sleeves would have been HUGE.
I didn't modify the length of the sweater. Were I to make it again, I might have made it a bit longer, but we'll see what washing does to it. It also might have been way too much fabric if I made it too much longer.
It's pretty easy to tell what my favorite color is, huh? The funny thing is that I bought the yarns about three years apart.
AND, I immediately cast on for the
Miette Cardigan with some Berocco Vintage (worsted), in colorway Fennel.
And, *drum roll* MORE YARN:
I know, I know. I need more yarn like I need a hole in the head. A yummy, yarny hole in the head. Hmm... Anyway, it was my mom's treat when she came up to visit. As she was leaving, she stuffed money into my purse and told me to go buy yarn with it.
Such a hardship. (I say that like I didn't try to give it back to her three times.)
Knit Picks' Gloss, fingering weight, in Winter Night (8 skeins, more than enough for a sweater, and definitely enough for one with some design features like cabling):
Knit Picks' Gloss, DK weight, in Guava (9 skeins):
The DK weight Gloss is going to be put to use in a
Peggy Sue (ravelry link) cardigan. It's so cute! And it'll be very happy-looking in the pink. I bought enough of the yarn to extend the body and/or the sleeves some, depending on how I feel about it when I get there.
