It's not just laziness, it's a sense of narrative!

It annoys me when I have trouble getting up in the morning. I want to wake up and accomplish things. Yet far more often than not whatever dream I'm participating in seems to require completion and I slip back into unconsciousness. If I'm not dreaming, I can get up. It's not even that they're great dreams, particularly insightful or enjoyable for example, it's just that I feel this very odd sense that I must let them play out before I can wake up completely. This morning's dream, for example, involved me restoring train engines and saving kittens while receiving news about all my high school classmates who had died in Iraq. And losing my luggage. See, who needs to continue that story? Well, apparently I do. (I gave the kittens to my cousins, organized a memorial for the classmates, waited in line to claim my luggage, and finished the painting on the train). Does anyone else have this problem? Do I just need a more effective alarm clock?
