I was just organizing some stuff and realised something ... I HATE summaries. As in, I really really do not like them at all. Every time I need to write one it goes one of two ways:
- Super easy and I love them.
- Painfully difficult and they end up sounding horrible and I hate them forever.
For example:
My favourite summary of all time is for
Tweet It:
With only 160 characters - sometimes the message gets lost in translation. Sometimes it results in a Sam Winchester, recently thrown into another dimension, thinking that his alternate-reality-fake-ego Jared Padalecki is in a romantic relationship with his co-star Misha Collins. And if he and Dean are supposed to pass for these actors, they will need to play their parts, even if that means pretending to be the boyfriend of some guy who looks a lot like a certain angel. Meanwhile, Misha is wondering what the hell is up with Jared.
Time it took to come up with what to write: Less than a minute.
My least favourite summary of all time is for
Deja Vu:
One accident changes Arthur's life forever. Now he is living with an amnesiac housemate in a crumbling cabin in a town so small most maps forget. He isn't sure which is more troubling, the fact he is deeply attracted to someone who might possibly have a family waiting for him, or the odd things which seem to keep happening ever since they met.
Time it took to come up with what to write: Four Months.
Of course the majority of my summaries are along the lines of "this happens and there's issues." Which is ... yeah ... that's thrilling. And the worst part is I deliberate over some for ages and it becomes this thing. This all encompassing, dreadful thing. I am lucky that my
paperlegends summary was option #1, but my
perverse_bang is definitely an option #2 ... don't even know what to call it let alone summarize.
