FELLOW ENGLISHER \o/
DRAMADRAMADUCK
elizabeth tudor {dropped}.
• England's favourite queen, hands down. No, he doesn't care that he's not allowed to play favourites, Elizabeth was Bess and she was his and he may or may not have had a teenage crush on her. She was on the community briefly twice, both times while he was stuck in WWII, and both times it was a shock - but a welcome one - to be able to talk to her again. Even if she did take great delight in watching him get embarrassed.
ELIZABETH FILMS •
JOINEDTOENGLAND saguru hakuba.
• One of England's closest friends on the community. A detective who really needs to stop getting kidnapped or shot or any other myriad of unpleasant things, Hakuba is one of England's favourite people - someone who he actually trusts and even jokes with, albeit in a snarky English way, and who he's more or less dropped the tsun for for the most part. That doesn't mean he won't give the idiot a lecture when he's deserving of one, but Hakuba has England's respect and loyalty, which is a pretty big thing. He still can't quite believe Hakuba's picked him as his best man for his wedding to Akako.
MAGIC KAITO •
CLOCKMASTER ema skye.
• As good as an extra little sister, not that you would ever get England to admit anything of the sort. He is undeniably fond of Ema though, and that fondness stems from over a year of building a rapport based on tea, defending each other from various problems that cropped up through viruses, and having bizarre and meandering conversations. Ema's a little on the odd side, and it's clear that she's one of America's purely from how reckless she can be sometimes, but she's got a kind heart, and she's never been bothered by England's tsun - which unexpectedly was probably part of the reason he warmed up to her so much.
ACE ATTORNEY •
DETECTSCIENCE mello {dropped}.
• Another detective friend and fellow British snarking buddy. England didn't know Mello as well as he would have liked to before the sarky thing passed away, but they had a good rapport with each other, and England was sorry to have lost him.
DEATH NOTE •
GONNABE1ST lily evans.
• Good lord. It's Lily freaking Evans. AKA one of England's favourite characters from one of his favourite book series. Excuse him while his inner Harry Potter fanboy goes and dies a gleeful death. But seriously, beyond that, the two were somewhat best friends during the Hogwarts AU virus and that carried over after that ended - the two are still good friends and chat and offer advice to each other over the community. The only thing that taints it is that England knows what her canon fate should be - and he isn't sure if he can let that happen with a clear conscience, especially after befriending the girl herself.
HARRY POTTER •
FLOWER_OF_LIONS honda kiku [japan].
• A good and long-time friend. Japan is one of the Nations England likes most and gets on with most on the whole; a shared love of tea, both being island nations, along with being two of the (usually) more sedate nations helps that. (And they both have secret inner fanboys. I'm sensing a theme here). Occasionally they both still confuse each other because hey, culture shock! But he's definitely someone England considers a friend.
AXIS POWERS HETALIA •
NIHONBOKU ai haibara.
• Hakuba's cousin. At first she just came vaguely under the umbrella of "people he cares about vaguely" purely through her relation to Hakuba, but England's come to respect her and, in a slightly tsundere way, care for her on her own terms. She's a good source of conversation at the very least, if a little distant. And the recent round of DDD secrets resulted in the both of them revealing stuff about themselves, so while the going is slow, there are the beginnings of friendship growing up here.
DETECTIVE CONAN •
GREY_GRIEF v {dropped}.
• For the time he was on the community, V was a source of great stress and confusion for England. On the one hand, V was like a symbol for 1940s!England of everything he didn't wish to become, and the possibility that he could end up like he was in V's world scared him shitless. Not to mention V's methods were... extreme. But on the other hand, the two managed to develop a strange sort of friendship, and there was no denying that England supported V's goal if nothing else. By the end of everything, the two were friends, and England played a small part in helping to make sure V survived his second roll through canon.
(?)
V FOR VENDETTA •
VENGEFUL_VIRTUE alexia tarabotti.
• An Englishwoman from a Victorian world where werewolves, vampires and ghosts appear to be common and accepted members of society. That weirdness aside, Alexia seems polite, intelligent, and a good source of conversation, and England care about her in that detached way that he cares about all of the English people on DDD. He finds her pleasant company though, and wouldn't mind getting to know her more.
THE PARASOL PROTECTORATE •
CARRIESPARASOL peter kirkland [sealand].
• The bratty little brother. Frankly, Sealand is an annoyance, and the two argue and wind each other up more than anything else. England thinks Sealand's attempts to be recognised asa proper country are ridiculous and will gamely mock them for all he's worth. But deep down? Sealand's still his little brother, and even if he doesn't like him, he's family. So when it matters, England will at least try to be there for him.
AXIS POWERS HETALIA •
DEFACTONATION donna noble.
• It should be noted first of all that the circumstances of Donna's leaving the show in Doctor Who prompted a fit of tsun rage. Also that Donna showing up inspired much the same reaction as Lily did. England's only talked to Donna once, but he's decided that now he's actually met her - the real her - he rather likes her, if only because she unexpectedly seems to have taken a shine to him. (She laughed at his comment about Prussia living in Germany's basement. That was unexpected). Of course, he's got spoilers for what happens to her - and he isn't happy about that prospect, either.
DOCTOR WHO •
FOREVERNOBLE antonio fernandez carriedo [spain].
• The in-law he could do without. There's a heck of a lot of resentment and bad blood between these two that probably won't ever go away - not anywhere near France and England levels, but it's significant enough that snippy comments between these two are common. (Spain has the typical little brother syndrome of not approving of his sibling's choice in friends or more. The fact that England delighted in nicking off with anything of Spain's he could pirate back in the day didn't help.) Despite this, England doesn't hate Spain exactly; the two might not ever see completely eye to eye, but he'll work with Spain when he has to, and on occasion, some tsundere feelings might slip past the radar as well.
(?)
AXIS POWERS HETALIA •
LAND_OF_THE_SUN ciel phantomhive.
• An Earl from another Victorian dimension. Very mysterious, polite and upper-class, Ciel is someone England feels some need to keep an eye on. He knows better than to ask, of course, but he can't help wondering about what could make a boy so young that professional and ruthless - especially since the timewarp virus, when a very cheerful and shy younger Ciel talked to England.
KUROSHITSUGI •
INDEBTS feliciano vargas [italy veneziano].
• The somewhat thick Italy brother. Really though, England can't bring himself to have the heart to be too hard on Italy; patronising and sarcastic, yes, but it's so difficult to be truly mean or to truly dislike Italy because he's so damn nice.
AXIS POWERS HETALIA •
GLUTTONFORPASTA james potter.
• MORE HARRY POTTER CHARACTERS, OH MY. Actually, since That One Scene in book 5, James has been one of England's less favourite characters. And since the James on the community is from that idiot stage of his life, England isn't too fond of him (he's biased on Lily's behalf, anyway). But that doesn't mean he's not concerned about James's future. He might be an idiot, but he's a brave one, and he still doesn't deserve to die so young.
HARRY POTTER •
QUIDDITCH_STAG minatsuki "hummingbird" takami.
• They met during the Hogwarts AU virus, during which they were the tsundere older brother and sister of Slytherin, and spent their days taking the mick out of each other, mocking the school and being tsundere bros all over the place. This has sort of carried over to reality, where England has found himself being unwittingly fond of and concerned for Minatsuki.
• He's not an idiot; he knows she's a criminal and quite probably insane. But he knew the somewhat better part of her, and since the dynamic between them hasn't shifted since the return to reality, he's still rather tsundere for her. Seeing her true nature laid out bare for him would inspire rage like no one has ever seen, of course - but then, it's not as if his hands are clean either.
(?)
DEADMAN WONDERLAND •
XXXING captain jack harkness.
• One of the Who characters that England liked well enough in the show, but who wasn't his favourite. Talking to Jack on the community and seeing him go through the events of Children of Earth has made England see the Captain in a whole new light, though, and he feels weirdly protective of him, in a vague sort of way. He'd prefer that Jack was happy, at least.
TORCHWOOD •
CAPT_GREATCOAT denzel crocker.
• These two got off on the wrong foot straight away. Denzel comes across to England as completely and utterly stark raving bonkers, and the fact that the man's threatened to kidnap and study England's fae didn't help matters. England dislikes him and if he tries to do anything to his fae, he will make Crocker regret it.
FAIRLY ODD PARENTS •
CATCHTHEFAIRIES azula.
• The ex-Fire Lord, apparently. They haven't talked in a long time, but England couldn't help being worried for the state of the Fire Nation while she was still in charge of it. Azula clearly wasn't the most stable of rulers (and she refused to accept anyone's points but her own when he talked to her), and England knows from experience what happens to nations who have rulers like that.
AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER •
PEOPLESPRINCESS rose tyler.
• Again, inspired the same sort of reaction from his inner fanboy that Donna and Lily did. The two have had a cordial conversation, but due to Rose being determined to try and preserve the integrity of the universes and/or times (bit late for that, England thinks, but good on her for trying), the conversation was somewhat stunted.
DOCTOR WHO •
LONE_DEFENDER gilbert beilschmidt [prussia] {dropped}.
• Annoying. Prussia will always be Prussia to England no matter if he isn't on the map anymore, but there is no denying how much the man gets on England's nerves just from being a bloody loud and obnoxious bastard. This isn't even counting in the thing with his sister. For the most part they mutually dislike each other, but England tolerates him and on occasion they band together for a good snarking or drinking session. And after the Shadow event when their shadows befriended one another, there was a small concession made to getting along a little better between them.
(?)
AXIS POWERS HETALIA •
EAST_DARKHORSE OTHERS
llewellyn ashe [wales].
• The oldest of the Isles siblings, and England's favourite. Not that he'll ever admit that Wales is his favourite, being that Wales is the land where men are men and sheep are nervous. England does get on best with Wales as a rule though (Doctor Who helps), regardless of the sheep-shagging jokes and the tsuntsun. Honestly, he's a tad clingy.
AXIS POWERS HETALIA [OC] •
LANDOFMYFATHERS brigid erin aien o'donnell [ireland].
• So many problems. So complicated. Ireland is England's only sister and kind of acted as surrogate mother after Mama Britannia passed away, but so many years of his bosses being after Ireland's land kind of resulted in England seeing her the same way as they did, at least from a political perspective. She's always been his sister and of course that means something, but so many years of fighting added with England's tendencies to be a right controlling Imperialist bastard and the Act of Union-based marriage that neither of them wanted that was forced on them by their bosses has left their relationship in tatters. England really doesn't know how to act around her now, and so he's just awkward; there's too much between them for him to know how to really take the first step back to trying to get on properly.
AXIS POWERS HETALIA [OC] •
PLEDGED_TO_ME douglas allaway [scotland].
• England's least favourite sibling. It's been fighting, sniping and bullying between these two almost from the get-go, and even now when things are mostly peaceful between them they still don't really get on. He's still family, of course, but that doesn't mean that England can't hate his guts most of the time.
AXIS POWERS HETALIA [OC] •
TALKSTOHAGGIS connor finn o'donnell-kirkland [northern ireland].
• After Wales, England's favourite brother, but like anything to do with Ireland, this one is complicated. England is still honestly amazed that Connor chose to stay with him (when he gave the Ulster counties the choice, he expected them to choose to go back to Ireland) and he honestly can't fathom why he did. It's nice to have a member of his family that isn't dying to get away from him, of course, but since the Troubles started things have gone through such difficult times that England wonders why Connor still sticks around. He's still fond of Connor, of course, and when things are going well the two generally get on, Connor's love of winding Arthur up aside.
AXIS POWERS HETALIA [OC] •
TORN_BETWEENTWO terra "terry" australis [australia].
• The baby girl. Australia and England's relationship got off to a rocky start when she first became his colony, and they've had a few rough patches over the years. But despite Australia's penchant for winding him up, teasing him, and being a rough-and-tumble tearaway, and England's tsuntsun, occasional bastard tendencies, and emotional fail, the two do genuinely care about each other and are pretty close these days, as far as relations between Nations go.
AXIS POWERS HETALIA [OC] •
ONEBUTMANY luís afonso santos valdez [portugal].
• The best friend and so much more. England and Portugal have a long and complex history between them as well as holding between them the longest unbroken alliance in the world that is still in force today. There's been good times, there's been bad times, there's been bloody terrible times, but it remains that Portugal has never left and that means such an awful lot to England because even he's not really sure what Portugal sees in him. Their relationship has only really recently got completely back to normal after an exceedingly strained period during most of the 20th century, but despite all that, there's a lot of fondness between them, and Portugal's someone England cares about absolutely.
