Oh, Elijah :'D

Vanessa on the other hand actually likes Elijah, because he's a GENTLEMAN. He is so far the only person she hasn't ever gotten angry at, and that because of his attitude and how he's polite and carries himself in a dignified way! So he has this noble vibething, even if he isn't a noble, and he treats Vanessa well which is clearly a plus. And he hasn't, say, implied he's a masochist or said something questionable! She doesn't trust him, per se, but she doesn't perceive him as a threat, either, which makes her act considerably calmer around him. And he listened to her lesson about flower language! So she sees him as someone she enjoys the company with and a potential friend, or someone she can relies on to get a decent, civil conversation with after getting frustrated by crazy people claiming they're countries or by the Hawke family. And then there's the fact he apparently has a sad family story too, so even if she doesn't know the details, she feels sympathetic to that.
