Elijah just passed 2k, Jesse is trucking along and has been around more in the past few weeks, I picked up a new character, and I haven't done this in awhile and feel like talking, so!

I had been really serious when I told Vanya a few months ago that I had no intention of apping again for awhile! And the thing was, I've been watching TVD since last summer, so I'd followed season two week by week and seen Elijah's whole first arc. Basically, they introduce him, he's kind of this lone badass in the background that does stuff and while he's cool and pretty, you don't really get much from him? So I didn't really notice him.
And literally right after I told Vanya I didn't have any app plans, they aired an episode where Elijah came back and the entire episode focused on his past and suddenly put everything he'd ever done in a new light. And I . . . I love that in a character, where their motives are completely different from what you think, and maybe not that nefarious. He's this guy who tries to be one thing, but his nature is clearly something completely different, and there's a conflict of sorts there. He's messed up, he has a hard time admitting he's messed up, he has a hard time admitting a lot in general. Add to that the fact that's he's a nonhuman who quietly struggles with the whole concept of "humanity" - something I'd been missing in my line-up - and I was sold with that one episode. I just think characters like that are so incredibly interesting to explore in a setting like this, and thinking about him, his motives, and what I could potentially do if I played him got me really excited, which doesn't happen often. So that drew me in! And I'm glad it did.
haha it's you and your hetero lifemate, I think. SO HEY. What drew you in to Tales of Innocence? Besides the fact that it's a Tales game. What is the major selling point of the game for you?

As for Tales of Innocence, it's a very short game and it's occasionally very flawed, but at the heart of it, it's a story about how six ordinary people (...with magical abilities that get them discriminated against, but whatever) come together to fight a evil that threatens to wipe out life as they know it, bond and become close friends along the way and then separate afterwards, all without drawing the attention of the larger powers. In Abyss and Symphonia, and I think Vesperia as well though I haven't played it, you are changing the world on a very large scale and you attract the attention of ruling powers, everyone knows who you are and it's a very standard RPG experience on that front.
Innocence is quite different. Your characters slip around without being noticed for the most part by the larger powers and are, for the vast majority of the story, treated as a minor annoyance as opposed to a mover and shaker. Hell, even the characters themselves aren't really sure what they're doing and why for most of the game, and are touring the world to find out what their past selves did and why everyone hates Luca's preincarnation.
This means that there's a lot more focus on the characters, and they're a lot more stable. Unlike Symphonia, where the characters grew very dependent on Lloyd, or in Abyss where everyone is basically a gigantic asshole at one point or another, the cast in Innocence are clearly very fond of one another.
AS FOR YOU IN PARTICULAR, I think you would adore Ricardo to the ground. Ricardo is this morally ... flexible mercenary who ends up part of the party because your resident healer and downright terrifying nun, Ange, basically hired him away from kidnapping her. He's a socially awkward guy who makes a point of calling everyone by their last names (this is lampshaded by one of the party skits where they point out he is way, way, way more formal than everyone else) and pretends that he is totally not falling into the team dad role. And then SPOILERS HAPPEN and he is really interesting because of them and idk i liked how Tales handled his spoilers. Also, he and Ange are hilarious. You could make Black*Star app Ange or Hermana and it would be awesome.
QUESTION: WILL I BE ABLE TO POST THIS? Okay, seriously, so what brought you to reapp Heisuke?

And then I idly thought, "well, that canon point would take away the majority of the issues I had when playing Heisuke."
And then I threw my hands in the air and decided to do it because why not.
WHEN LJ SUCKS LESS and I don't have to do the proxy dance, I will give you a question, sob.
