Our next village upon our wondrous journey is the village of Duanheim! Duanheim is in the middle of dragon hunting outlands with a viking-type environment, consisting of three zones. The outermost zone of Duanheim involves farmland and buildings made out of crudely put together wood and thatch roofs. The middle zone is general residence and market areas, where the buildings are composed of dark cement - again with thatch roofs. The innermost zone is the community hall where everyone goes for their meals, as well as the village leader's fortified home of stone and brick. The village rests in the middle of an open field, with an ocean not too far to the east, the mountains we just came from to the west, grassy meadows to the north and thick forests to the south.
Grandore will park himself and the caravan in the outermost zone on March 9th. However, before the villagers allow the caravaners to their resources and warm meals, they require a few different tasks to be completed first!
The villagers in Duanheim survive by relying on their environment and the various
monsters that live in the area. However, due to the most recent dragon attack, they haven't had the fittest of warriors available to accomplish their various tasks!
THE TOMLOV
The Tomlov is a creature known for its camouflaging back. They will move if something or someone steps on them, but they seldom harm people. This makes them perfect animals to harvest, because the villagers can use their tough bark-like skin to create shafts of spears, bows, and the wooden part of arrows while using their guts for bowstrings and instruments and their meat for food! Therefore, the villagers want you to travel to the forest to the south and bring back ten tomlovs. They can be alive or dead, but alive might be best so that it doesn't rot before you get back! Tomlovs are found underfoot in the forest, often confused for logs unless frightened, so you might want to try finding a way to create as much noise as possible to get them moving!
Of course, do try to be careful, because there are more than tomlovs in the forest that might not be so kind with all the ruckus.
THE KAENAI
The Kaenai are wolf-like creatures that occupy most of Willaknapp, found in abundance both in the forest and the grassy meadows. They have only one thing on their minds: food. The villagers of Duanheim have only one thing on their mind: pelts! Go forth and collect twenty kaenai pelts for the village - you can either bring the body back, or skin it yourself if you know how. Villagers don't have any use for the meat because it's too tough! Kaenai are dangerous contenders, however - they're larger than your average wolf, fast and quick to bite, so make sure you get it down as quickly as possible! No villager would recommend trying to bring back one alive, either. They don't want that kind of danger directly in the village.
THE RAMKNOC
The Ramknoc are strange goat-like creatures with rocks on their backs for blending. They are shy and would rather not be bothered, but turn aggressive when you encroach on their territory or threaten their offspring! The villagers, however, need their horns and hooves to help craft their weapons - the heads of their spears and arrows, and the minerals on their back to create alkyline-metal type material. Bring back five!
THE WALLIE
Wallies are massive mammoth-type creatures, but are generally friendly. They are seen in herds of twenty plus, and would rather do nothing more than eat and sleep. Some have learned to talk and communicate with people, too! This is where you come in. The villagers of Duanheim need thirty spools of Wallie hair for their clothes! You could choose to kill a wallie, but there's a matter of bringing that massive hulk of a thing back to the village, so they recommend you politely ask wallies if you may snip their hair off! They might be obliging, if you would please get them some delicious flowers from the forest to eat...
There is no sign up sheet for these quests - you can go out and complete them on your own, or plot with your fellow passengers to get them done! By March 13th, it will be assumed that the caravaners have completed these requests, and will have free reign to the village - barter for some fancy wallie-fur clothes, fierce weapons, or just gorge yourself on delicious pastries!
On March 17th, the caravan will be leaving to get back on the road. There will be a mini event posted for the weekend of March 18th - March 20th, but that information post will go up March 15th.
Also, sorry about this post being late! I had an open viewing at our house so I didn't have a chance to write this up until now. AS USUAL, questions/comments/concerns etc go in this post!
