Okay, guys!

Now that we've decided teams for the most part (you still have until tomorrow night, don't worry), this post is going to be used for methodization. Remember how I asked how you would like your character to be turned, if you went the werewolf/vampire route? Well, this is the post to organize how we're going to put that in action.

So! In this post, please let me know whether or not you would like to thread with an NPC, or write your own incident. If you don't want to write out the change in general, that's fine too! I just figured I'd give you guys the option. In general, I'm very open minded when it comes to you guys doing your own thing here in hometrail. Here's some basics about vampires and werewolves, and how the changes occur (as well as shapeshifting for werewolves).

Werewolves
People become infected when they are bitten by a werewolf - either in human or bipedal wolf form. It takes the touch of moonlight to complete the transformation, wherein the infected person undergoes their first shapeshift into the bipedal wolf form. Even before the transformation, though, they will have very high fever and an increased sense of sight and smell. When they are touched by moonlight about one hour after the bite, they will shapeshift into their bipedal wolf form. This is extremely painful, because it involves the entire shifting of someone's bone structure.
In this form, werewolves have increased strength, but they will likely be clumsy due to their increased size and the different way a werewolf holds themselves as opposed to a human. Werewolves are not very fast, but they make up for it in their ability to see well in the dark, their sense of smell, and their strength. However, they are very violent and quick to attack, particularly when they have a clan - this closeness with clan members leads to an aggression towards anyone else.
When you are turned, it's because the alpha is collecting new kin for their clan - so after you are bitten, you will be abandoned until your first moonlight, and then you will be contacted by clan members for you to join them in their plight against the humans at Fort Hood and the vampires. They just wanna cuddle, mang. It's totes chill.
The alpha male is named Koda, but if you're writing your own transformation you are more than welcome to create your own werewolf npcs for the event to help yourself along. The basic line is that you'll eventually be brought into their caves for shelter and food, and treated well and trained in the art of being a werewolf to use you in battle later. Ari has no problem with pitting you against other werewolves to toughen you up. It's, of course, possible to escape :D

Vampires
People are turned into vampires when they are completely drained by one to the brink of death, then forced to drink the blood of a vampire just as they are in the midst of dying. It takes about twelve hours of being dead before the vampire blood takes its hold on the body and the person rises as a vampire. People at Fort Hood attempt to stop this process by immediately burning the body of anyone who was drained - but don't worry! We won't let the npcs get your kids at this stage, as vampires tend to protect the bodies / take them back to their homes until they wake back up. So, you will wake up in the care of a vampire.
They're not very pretty - they are not able to hide their teeth, so your character will have to deal with the receding of their gum lines (and the consequent bleeding) as well as making room for their fangs. The fangs are the usual classic extension of canines. And you're pale/cold as hell since you're technically dead.
As vampires, you will have increased speed and agility, but are very frail when you haven't feasted on a lot of human blood. So, you will have to feed to gain strength - and your vampire foster parents will be attempting to force feed you so you're strong enough for the war on Fort Hood and the werewolves. You will be craving it, too - an unending hunger and thirst and unbearable stomach cramps. Normal food is unsatisfying, even water doesn't quench the thirst. Vampires having a honing sense for blood - if something is warm blooded, they will be able to seek it out almost immediately. Their cold bodies mean that they're extra sensitive to heat! So no sun for them, they'll burn.
The vampire Father, the leader of the house, is named Gideon - but those who turn you are your fosters, and will be the ones trying to force feed you to up your strength (and then starve you before they unleash you on Fort Hood so that you still have the strength from before with an addition of crazed bloodlust). Like the werewolves, it's possible to escape!

Humans
Fort Hood is a well-fortified village with high walls and only one entrance/exit. It is rather modern, with high-tech artillery (though a little different than, say, modern century Earth) but iffy plumbing. The humans that make it to Fort Hood are welcome to come and go (which provides options to being caught in the forest for the vampire or werewolf teams, and its also equally likely for vampires and werewolves to sneak inside in small numbers to capture them from the inside, though they don't do this en masse to avoid detection). However, the price of the caravan getting to stay there and restock is that they have to help defend the fort! Daytime only lasts three hours, so be prepared to patrol the walls in shifts. For your time off, though, you're welcome to sleep in the hotels, or go catch a movie, or do a little shopping!
Humans are, well, humans - but they have highly specialized weapons to deal with vampires and werewolves. There's silver bullets and swords for the werewolves, and UV flashlights / spotlights for vamps. Vamps have to be worn down by regular means (bullets, swords, baseball bats, whatever's at hand), but once you can get them still? Shine the UV on them and they'll shrivel up.
The village leader is a woman named Red. She's got little patience for ruckus and BS, so if you stir up anything in her town, you're out - regardless of the fact you're under the wing of the waywarrant.

Okay, I think that's everything! So, again - in this post, please let me know whether or not you would like to thread with an NPC for your turning into a vampire/werewolf, or write your own incident.
