The rapidly approaching end of semester, and considerations for the upcoming summer term, had occupied most of Mohinder's attention. Trying to mark his class' finals had not gone well; his concentration had lapsed, drifting in any and all directions ( Read more... )

G'Kar padded down to the laundry room, basket of clothes in hand. He was donning only a robe and his feet were bare.

"Oh, pardon me," he spoke when he realized the room was already occupied. "You don't mind if I join you I hope?"

"Of course not," said Mohinder, letting his feet still against the machine. "I've never considered laundry to be a solitary activity."

"Good to know. I find it an oddly relaxing chore. Forces one to slow down for a while." He claimed a machine and began to stuff laundry into it.

"I don't believe we've met before. I'm G'Kar."

"You have too much haste in your life otherwise?" Mohinder asked.

"Mohinder Suresh." He introduced himself and nodded upward. "I live one floor up."

"Not so much anymore. But at one point, I did. Being part of starting a new interstellar alliance is always a hectic task. But well worth it." He smiled.

"Pleased to meet you. I'm on the third floor. How long have you been in Fandom, if I may ask?"

G'Kar smiled slightly. "I'm sure they wouldn't have minded if I stayed longer. But I had other matters at hand that outweighed it." He let out a small sigh.

"Matters that led you here?" Mohinder was curious. "However indirect the route."

"Yes," Mohinder gave a shrug and a smile. "I'm simply glad it still seems odd to me, even if all my coffee decaffinated earlier this week."

"I suppose that's one way to look at it. I needed to...distance myself from things for a while."

G'Kar chuckled. "I am now very glad that I never developed an affection for the stuff. It is all right now and then, don't get me wrong, but I don't feel that I require it to become 'living'. Unlike a few humans I know."

"From the people too? Or do you keep in touch with them from here?"

"I don't need it," stressed Mohinder, his heels tapping out a faster beat. "But I have become used to drinking it. I'm suppose the Perk has lost most of its custom since."
