Mohinder was sure that the Oregon airport was a fine example of its kind. Just one he'd never planned on visiting.
"Company funds don't grow on trees, doctor," Bob had told him before sending Mohinder off to a small town whose principle feature was snow - snow, more snow and a librarian who could - with concentration - alter the opacity of any object she was in contact with. Working with and testing Amelia had gone well - with the exception of one elevator-related incident that might just be creatively misfiled. Mohinder hadn't ever expected to see several stories of lift shaft from that angle, and he'd been... surprised. And giggled at.

The company evidently managed to outfit labs with the money they saved in other areas. Which - Mohinder hoped - was why Portland was only his third stop of several domestic hops on his way back to New York. And why he was reassuring a young girl via cell phone, and definitely missing portal travel.
"And I will be there when you wake up."
Molly drifted into sleep partway through his second murmured lullaby, and Mohinder flicked his phone shut and off, waiting for his next connection.
