It's Saturday afternoon, let's pretend like we're on HGTV!
For my birthday in May, my bff
adellyna was awesome enough to come all the way to Texas for a few days and help me totally redo my bedroom. If you know Mandi, you know that could only end *awesomely*.
I moved back in with my mom after college, and my bedroom ended up looking like this:
So, yeah. Two beds, bookshelf full of random crap, ugly unicorn painting my uncle bought me when I was six. When I was in high school, I painted the walls purple and went with a purple and mint green theme. It was, clearly, time for a change.
After Mandi got here, we painted the walls white, cleared out the extra bed, rearranged the furniture, went through all my crap and tossed a bunch of it out, painted various bits of furniture and decorative items, etc. She is pretty much a genius about these things, so it came out really amazingly. I bought new bedding, we made trips to Wal-Mart, drank a bunch of wine, ate a bunch of ice cream. It was fabulous.
This is what it looks like now:
I know, right?
The only things I've added since she was here, is the art on the wall over the bed and the pictures on the wall over the chest, which you can't really see because they were a bitch to photograph without glare. Please notice that my dog is a unifying theme in the before and after pictures.
Some of the details:
This used to be the unicorn painting, Mandi painted over it and I looooooove it. It's one of my favorite things in the room.
Chalkboard paint!
The closet doors were a bitch and it took forever to figure out exactly what to do with them. In the end, we (Mandi) wrote "c'est la vie" on them, complete with little pink punctuation hearts. And you can see where we painted the joints hot pink.
This was one of the more inspired ideas, I think. I used to have a whole wall of band posters and set lists and things like that, but we put them all on a big bulletin board instead. Well, two boards fastened together and sprayed with more chalkboard paint. Please note my huge collection of Cobra Starship items.
Annnnd, I think that's all!
Except for the
really awesome computer bag that Mandi made me out of duct tape.
Duct tape!!!
