This is a list of my very favourite characters in Harry Potter, including various fanigirl ramblings on why I love them so. Yes, I am actually just that bored.
Sirius Black
I was pretty much in love from the moment we're first introduced to him as a convicted criminal who has escaped from somewhere that no one has ever been able to escape from. He's portrayed as a phsyco-killer but, when we finally meet him, we see that he is quite the opposite. While he does have a huge rebellious streak, he has a heart of pure gold. Gold and scarlet infact. His whole family was slytherin, but, he dared to be different and stand out against them. He loved his friends more than anything and even after James has died, he still defends him and does evetything he can to protect his best friend's son & his godson. I hate how he died, but if I'm being realistic, it's the only way to fully complete his character arc was to die helping Harry, this in turn, helping James in the way that he had not been able to do before. I also love the way that he loves Remus, but that's another story =D -cough-R/SFTW!-cough-
Remus Lupin
I love how when we first see him, he's a scruffy man who cares. He stays this way throughout POA, but he also develops in hiw own way. We learn of how he was a Maurauder & we see just how much he cares about Harry and his wellbeing. I love the fact that he's a werewolf who is good and I love just how broken he is. In POA, he is essentitally the last one standing. Until, Sirius returns & we see yet another side to Remus. Through the rest of the series, we see how unable to let people down he is, how much he hates to say no to people. He trys to please everybody and it hurts him when he can't do that. In DH, we see yet another side to him when Harry lets loose on him. He's so angry and yet again, broken that it hurts. Remus loves his son & given the chance, I fully believe he would've been an awesome father. Again, R/S FTW!
Neville Longbottom
My boy =D I love the way that he doesn't seem to give up. After he fails at so many things, you would expect him to, but he just doesn't. Through the series, he becomes the glue that holds everything else together. We see this most in DH. He carries on Dumbledoor's Army even when everyone else seems to be falling away from him, he stands up to the Carrows and the school when no one else will & then he just shrugs it all off like he hasn't done anything special. He courage is phenomenal and it just makes you want to hug him forever. He'll stand up to his friends and enemies alike, even when he is scared to do so. God, I love that boy. Also? His name rules.
Luna Lovegood
When we first meet her in OotP she's just so serene and perfect. I love the way that she's so different from everyone else and doesn't even try to hide it, because that's just the way that she is. The way that she sees the world is so different from the ay that everyone else sees it and it's just fascinating. She takes so much from so many people and she just.. takes it. Like it's nothing. She loves her new friends more than anything else in the world and she's brave in her own way, standing up for what's right & fighting the final battle in DH. Also? She's in Ravenclaw. Ravenclaw for the WIN, yo.
Fred & George Weasley
I love the way that no matter what the situation is, they can also find a way to make people smile. They are the very-much-needed comic relief of the series. Yet, even under their mask of humor, they are so brave. They'll stand up & fight for things that they belive in & yes, they do it with style. They also love & care about each other very much, even thought neither of them would admit that out loud. I hated the way Fred died & it's the one death in the book that I feel has no justification. If they had both died, I would've been able to deal with it, but with one gone.. I can't even.. -cries- But, I do love the twins with al of my heart.
Bellatrix Lestrange
I love how unhinged she is, how crazy, how manic she is. I couldn't help but instantly love her. She was just so perfectly written. Although, I hate the way she killed Sirius, if anyone had to do it, it was good that it was her. She really is made of pure evil and something about that just screams out to me. I love it. I love that with her, there is no shade of grey, she is evil. Pure and simple. She also has my favourite name of all the characters in the series, it just proves J. K. Rowling's genius.
Severus Snape
Oh God -breaks-. I can't even talk about him yet. It hurts me too much. I loved the way he was so.. fabulous. His sarcasm and snark just, got me everytime. I love the way that, with him, there was no black & white, good & bad, everything was a million different shades of grey. He loved Lily Evans more than he had and will ever love anything and anyone else in his life. And after her death, he still loved her so much that he protected the son of the man who bullied him mercilessly for seven years. His love for her was against everything he had been brought up to believe, yet he gave in to it in the end. Although, it breaks my heart to know that he never got his one bright, shining moment of redemption while he was alive.
Scorpio Malfoy
Because, come on, anyone with that name, you know that they're just made of pure win.
Ronald Weasley
My ginger boy =] There really isn't enough love for us gingers in the world. I love Ron. I love how quriky & awkward & geeky & perfect he is. He loves his friends with a blind faith, although, sometimes his hot-headed-ness gets the better of him. He always comes back. The scene in DH where he comes back & saves Harry, it broke me. I love his humor & how he is a boy. I love how he isn't completly angst-ridden and sees a bright side to everything, much like his brothers. He's always ready and willing to sacrifice himself completly to save the people that he loves. Call me the minority, but, I don't particulary, like Ron/Hermione, but I do love the way that he loves her.
Dobby the House Elf
Dobby! The poor little house elf. We first meet him in CoS and he's just beaten down and broken, his spirit is gone after having to live under the cruel Malfoy regime but, after Harry frees him, we see him differently. He's brave and so amazingly loyal. He loves Harry and in the end, dies for him. I think that if Dobby had a choice, he would have chonsen that death. Dying for a cause that he wanted to die for. Choosing his own death. He never had a choice before, and when he did choose, he went out in glory & I love that about him.
James Potter
Although we don't get to see much of James in cannon, I love him. I love his casual cocky-ness, and he doesn't think that he's the greatest, he knows and he does it with such ease. He's the Quidditch hero, the golden boy of the school and he totally loves his own hype. Yet, despite all of this, he truly loves his friends and his family and ultimatly, sacrifices himself for his son and wife.
