SO, I SAW INCEPTION AGAIN.

I THINK I AM READY TO TALK ABOUT IT. KIND OF.

You guys, I am so happy that this film exists in the world! An entire movie built in and around dream-space and the concept of a person's subconscious? EXCUSE ME, WHAT? That's-- it's my perfect movie concept, really. DREAMS. DREAMS WITH A TINY SIDE OF GREEK MYTHOLOGY HIDDEN AWAY IN THERE. Auuuuugh, my heart can't even take what this movie threw at it, honestly. Everyone was so on their game with it, every single cast member. How is that even possible? I DO NOT KNOW BUT I ENJOYED IT IMMENSELY.

Points I want to talk about!

1) Ariadne! Ariadne drawing mazes! My inner (but not really so hidden at all) Greek Mythology nerd was having seizures all over that scene, and really, through the entire film over her and the hidden ~meanings~ you could read into it, given her name. Ariadne's string leading Theseus through the labyrinth! And she was the one that lead Cobb through his own, person labyrinth of guilt and grief. THAT WAS A VERY COOL THING TO SLIP IN THERE, MR NOLAN, VERY CLEVER INDEED. THANK YOU. (Here comes the question then: Was she real? Or was she one of Cobb's projections, designed to help him work through it? If the spinning top wasn't about to topple, then this theory is probably right, I'd think. However, THE SPINNING TOP WAS OBVIOUSLY WOBBLING AND THE END AND IT WAS ABOUT TO FALL AND THEREFORE SHE WAS REAL AND IT IS WRONG. Interesting, but wrong.) But apart from the mythology angle, she was generally just really cool. And smart! I love smart girls! I loved that she knew what she wanted, and how she wouldn't let Cobb handwave things away to her, instead guiding him in the right direction to work through his issues. I loveddddd that. ARIADNE IS REALLY KIND OF RAD, OKAY?

2) ARTHURRRRRRRR. Arthur is my favourite! Maybe. Him or Eames, really. (Their snarky, wonderful relationship! I ship it really kind of a lot, I don't even know anymore. I'm drowning in fic and it's the best thing ever.) I love him so much. I want to wrap him up in cotton wool and keep him safe in my pocket forever. EXCEPT NO BECAUSE THEN I WOULDN'T GET TO SEE EPIC SHIT LIKE THE ZERO GRAVITY FIGHT SCENE WHERE HE WAS A NINJA BADASS. He's the character that makes me wish beyond anything that I was able to write anything at the moment. I WANT TO WRITE ARTHUR FIC SO BADLY I CAN TASTE IT, with his neckties and cufflinks and everything about him being so precise and "stick-in-the-mud" and he's the point man and he's the best at what he does and auuuugh, JGL HAS A REALLY AMAZING FACE, OKAY?

3) "What's the most resilient parasite? An Idea. A single idea from the human mind can build cities. An idea can transform the world and rewrite all the rules." IDEAS AND THEIR IMPORTANCE. YES. THANK YOU, CHRISTOPHER NOLAN.

4) MARION COTILLARD WAS BEYOND AMAZINGGGGGG. OH LORD. I can't even talk about her. I just-- I cannot.

5)

EVEN THE POSTERS ARE AMAZING, WHAT UPPPPP.

6) THE SPINNING TOP WAS WOBBLING AND WAS JUST ABOUT TO FALL OVER.

7) I love this movie so much. I want to go and see it again. I want the DVD in my hands. I want the post on my bedroom wall. I want moreeeee. Everything about it was so well done, it's kind of surreal how Nolan has even managed to pull it off; such an intricate and layered plot, fused together with a ridiculoussssly well-casted and talented group of actors and intelligent directing in all ways (THE LIGHTINGGGG, MY HEART)... it's stunning. I've never felt the need to clap and the end of a movie before but, at the end of my first viewing, I felt an urge to give it the biggest standing O in the world. (I didn't, of course, but.) I wanted to do it again today. My perfect fiiiiiilm.

8) Tom Hardy's voice is an aural miracle.

THERE IS MORE TO TALK ABOUT BUT I AM CLEARLY FORGETTING EVERYTHING. I feel overwhelmed, almost, by it? I'M HAVING A LOT OF FEELINGS, CLEARLY. Nolan and co, I salute you, sirs.

movies are my lifeforce, inception
