Episode 103: Metal Team ChisaKUEI, Punk Team O-JIRoki?!
Hi everyone! This is Celley with a quick report for you from PENICILLIN's SPRING METAL 09 circuit. Lately it's seemed quite a lot like the rainy season already-- I don't mind because I like rain, but Japanese people must be made of sugar because they always run away from it like they'll melt n_n;; It might be too early to say rainy season since it usually doesn't start until June or so, but I did see this the other day after some heavy rainstorms that went on for a couple of days:
Isn't it pretty? (*-*)
Anyway, this entry isn't about L'arc, it's about PENICILLIN, haha! I don't have any photographs of PENICILLIN to be clever with, though. n_n;; Have a few other photos instead:
Those are the signs for Liquid Room in Ebisu, which is where PENICILLIN held the second show on their three-date mini-tour. It was my first time there so I had a little trouble finding it, but once you orient yourself and get on the right street it's totally easy to see! At the doorway I was greeted with this:
That's the closest I come to a picture of penicillin, sorry! n_n;; There was no photography allowed in hall. Once you enter on the ground floor, you have to turn left and go up a tall flight of stairs. At the top there is a staircase going back down immediately on your right-- however I was early, and they were still calling ticket numbers. I decided to go into the lounge on that floor.
There you can see the crowd.
And here's a shot further back; you can see people waiting and also the little merchandise stand that was set up. The closest part of it to me was displaying PENICILLIN's recent singles and other CDs. There was even some machine for sale!
There was also a little restaurant in the back, I snapped a picture of the sign:
Maybe next time I go to Liquid Room I'll arrive early and check it out. 0_0
Anyway, on to the show! The circuit is called SPRING METAL for a reason: most of the music they played was their harder, more metal songs. There were only a couple I knew, and among the ones I didn't were their two new tracks "BLACK HOLE" and "WHITE HOLE". I really liked "WHITE HOLE", it does have a lighter, more playful feel to it as the band said in their interview with us. I definitely recommend it if you like their lighter songs. The others they played were a mix of old and new perfectly suited to the metal theme. Their outfits were pretty metal, too-- Chisato and HAKUEI both wore short shorts hiding under some half-skirt kind of things, but O-JIRO looked fun and colourful in a plaid top. Hiroki, their support bassist, had on mostly black but he was full of smiles as usual. HAKUEI said that he and Chisato were team METAL, whereas O-JIRO and Hiroki were team PUNK. I kind of thought HAKUEI and Chisato were team PLEATHER, and Hiroki and O-JIRO were team "WE DON'T KNOW THOSE OTHER TWO GUYS!" Hahaha, just kidding!
Anyway, you can expect all kinds of details when my article is up, including at least one funny story in which Chisato somehow ends up with a free gift he didn't quite expect. Stay tuned to our special features for the full report. Thanks for reading!
PS: Did you hear the news that GISHO will be making an appearance at one fan-club only show this August? How exciting!! That announcement was made at the May 10th show in Yokohama, not the one I went to, but I found out the news when I read Hiroki's blog after the show. n___n I wish I could go!
