Interview with defspiral Commemorating First Album Release 'PROGRESS'




-- The album serves to explain what kind of band defspiral is.

――It is your 'first time' to appear in a MJP interview as 'defspiral'. Could you tell us how you formed the band?

RYO: While we were performing as the Underneath, one of our guitarists
left the band. We thought we should let go of everything that we had
developed up to that point as a 5 member band. That's why we decided to
break up the band. When we broke up as a band, it came down to a
completely blank state of things.

TAKA: Each member thought over what he should do next as an individual
musician. We all came to the conclusion that we wanted to perform with
these members. That's why the remaining 4 members got together again to
form a new band.

RYO: We didn't change the band name because one of our guitarists left
the band. Rather, we changed the band name because we wanted to start
things anew, and develop everything from scratch as 'defspiral'.

――So 'PROGRESS' is the first album you released as a new band.
