So I went and hurt myself again, big shocker there. This time though it was more serious seeing how it involved one of my knives and my leg. So here's the whole story...
I was out with the airsoft team for practice and we went through a few games with video taping and taking pictures. Then we decided to switch to some CQB (Close Quarters Battle) in an old building. My group was going to be the entry team and the other was going to defend. So we back away from the building and start planning. One of the guys starts drawing in the snow with his foot making a diagram of the building and he was using his boot so it was all smudged. So I went and cut a branch with my M16 folder. The blade snapped through the branch and I felt the blade hit my BDU's and thought maybe I had a scratch at most. Didn't think anything of it and walked back to the group. In that time the blood managed to soak through my polypro (army thermals) bottoms and my BDU's to the point where the blood pooled on part of the fabric. Now, I've cut myself numerous times an I've never seen this happen so I kinda freaked out and yanked up my thermals and BDU's. Low and behold, there was a 3inch wide gash on my leg bleeding like a siv (severed artery) and I just kinda thought oh shit to myself because the skin separated about an inch at the center. I pinch the wound shut, not knowing there was another puncture form the knife which was only about 2cm wide and a little deeper than the cut. At that point someone pulled out a bandanna and I wrapped it to help stop the bleeding and started off towards the main trail to get back to the cars. One of the guys on the team is an EMT and checked it out real quick and then I started off again while he went back to get his keys. By the time he got back to the trail I was already at the cars, a good half mile hobble which was kinda funny because I moved faster than he did. But we got to the car and rinsed off the wound then wrapped it again and took off for the hospital. Got there in one piece and walked up to the triage desk. They asked me on a scale of zero to ten how much pain I was in. Stupid me, I say zero because I'm not in any pain, go me... so I got to sit in the waiting room while they admitted people with sprained ankles. The only thing that really hurt was when the idiot doctor pulled the wound open. I'm not talking just moving around the skin a bit... He pulled and I got kinda nauseous. I ended up with 12 stitches for the long cut and 2 for the puncture.
