I went to Ohio.
And though I say it everytime I go, it's amazing the things you find at home. John and I went back together on Friday and stayed until this (Monday) afternoon. It was really wonderful. We spent a lot of time with my family, eating, relaxing, watching TV and doing very suburban things. We also went to King's Island, rode many rollercoasters and even sky-swung (ie, that bungee-jumping thing you can see from the highway and I had sworn I'd never ever do...).
We looked at old pictures of me--from when I was a baby with my sister to prom with Brandon, from my first hike on the trail in Minnesota to my last day of school. I reread old diaries and stayed up late flipping through their pages. We even pulled out my art portfolio from high school and looked at old sketches and designs.
It gets hard to tell whether one keeps growing or instead shrinks within oneself. Have I grown in the last four years? Yes, but I see myself differently when I look back to high school where I balanced a dozen activities rather than honing in on one.
But that's not what is important. Instead, the chocolate chip pancakes that my mom made are important. :) Sleep. This driving girl is tired.
