I wasn't intentionally trying to comment on anything, though there might be small things that got in there without me knowing it.

In my head, at least, Britta and Troy weren't together - they both know there's something there, but Britta, at least, is too scared to act on it, which is why she runs away. I think the end when they get back to Greendale is when both Jeff and Britta finally act on their feelings for Annie and Troy, respectively. That's why I posted it at M-M (though I hosted it on my own LJ and put in the caveat that it doesn't focus on J/A) - ultimately, even though he's with Britta, Jeff really wants to be with Annie.

Though I think it's worth mentioning that I don't think they went to New York together with the intention of sleeping together. The way I pictured it, he asked her to go because I picture them as always relying on each other, and then the sex just sort of happened and they rolled with it. But I threw in little lines here and there to show that it wasn't perfect - they didn't feel welcome in the city, even their most romantic night together was missing something, etc.

Anyway, that's what I intended, at least, and though I'm curious if that changes your reading of it, I appreciate your comment :)

Since this was post-summer, I assumed it was after the finale and I understood that Britta and Troy were an item after season 3. So the fic's scenario would never have occurred to me unless you explicitly stated it beforehand. Maybe not everyone saw them that way after the season finale, but I perceived it as audience consensus. If that's wrong, I read the episodes wrong. :). Been known to happen.

I'm not sure it's canon that Troy/Britta are an item. They've technically been on a date, but nothing was really resolved in "Intro to Finality" except for the fact that they hugged. They're on a bit of better footing for a potential relationship than Jeff and Annie are, because they've basically mutually acknowledged some sort of ~feelings, but I don't think they'd defined as being in a relationship at this point because they truly haven't acted on anything (apart from shmoopy glances here and there). But that's just personal observation!

I didn't take the finale as direct confirmation that they were together - I think by then, they at least acknowledged their feelings toward the other, but that doesn't necessarily mean they told the other one how they feel. So that's the jumping off point I used for the fic - Britta knows she likes Troy, probably knows Troy likes her, but doesn't know what to do about it, so she runs. I don't think you read the episode wrong; I think the writers purposely didn't show them getting together because they wanted it to be ambiguous. I read the T/B scenes in the finale a little bit differently, and that's totally fine - neither one of us read it wrong.

I mean, I think they might have thought sex was a possibility, but I don't think they went with the intention of sleeping together and starting a relationship and falling in love (and I don't think they did the last two things at all). J/B didn't run away from Troy and Annie because they didn't want to be with Troy and Annie; J/B ran away because they were afraid of their feelings for T/A.

The reason I used pronouns and not their names (and, incidentally, why there's no dialogue until day 14) was because I wanted it to feel different. So it doesn't feel like Jeff Winger on vacation with Britta Perry, but rather a guy on vacation with a girl in a city they don't know (or that one of them doesn't know, at least), pretending to live a life that isn't theirs. Sure, it conceals their identities, but that's a consequence of that choice, not the cause. I do appreciate all your comments, and hopefully looking at the fic with a different perspective will make it more enjoyable :)
