I've been thinking for about the last year about books or guides aimed at females on the subject of masturbation. Specifically for beginners. Granted, this is because I have a female child approaching this age and I want her to not have the fear/shame/embarassment issues with masturbation that I had growing up ( Read more... )

I also remember doing it as young as 4 -- regularly but never very often, and always the same way. I had no idea what masturbation was until I was 16 though, by which time I was old enough to figure "Well, God ain't killed me for it yet, so this is proooobably bullshit." No one ever talked to me about it. I got a basic anatomical sex ed class at about 10 or 11 where they explained to all the girls that within the next few years we'd go through puberty and start bleeding and we should tell an adult if anyone touched us inappropriately or tried to get us to go somewhere alone with them.

I uh... didn't know there were books about it. Once I hit puberty, I stopped WANTING to do it at all, and now actually CAN"T do it except exactly half way through my cycle or the day before my period starts. A couple of years ago I got a vibrator, which makes it a lot quicker, though for me there was sort of a trade off. I can masturbate to orgasm but it never feels good to me. It's not painful or anything, I just apparently have some kind of mental issues against my body or something where I feel unpleasantly drained and irrationally angry and depressed when I do that. I don't know if that's helpful, though. I've gotten the impression I'm about as far from sexually normal as it's possible to get. :P
