One would think that in a situation as grave as this one can at times be, certain residents would have better things to do than destroying community property. I know there are rather lax laws in place here, but that is no reason to abuse them.

[The weather has been mild today. Nephry can be found in the plaza, sitting near the fountain and enjoying ( Read more... )

As with everything, people will abuse certain circumstances. I'm amazed no one has really been injured yet. Or at least we have not heard of it.

Have you been faring well, Nephry?

That doesn't make it right, Saphir.

...Yes, I have.

I never said it was. I merely implied that people have their impulses, and will take advantage of certain things when given the chance. It's within their nature as the filthy, uncivilized miscreants they really are.

[Dist doesn't like that little pause there, missy. Don't make him play twenty questions.] You've not been afflicted by this particular experiment, then?

I wish you'd be more careful with your word choices.

Oh, no, I have. Earlier this morning I ended up in front of the bakery.

My apologies, Nephry.

[A pause.] I see. Nothing else out of the ordinary, I hope?

Nothing so far. How have you been?

Nothing out of the ordinary has occurred to me thus far. I'm hoping I'll be left out of this particular experiment. Though I'm not exactly putting much faith in my dismal luck.

Do you really think your luck is that bad?

It's more bad than good, from what I've experienced in my time, both here and back home. In fact, I do believe it'd gotten worse here. [Though he's blaming that mostly in part to the Malnosso.]

And yet you manage to survive everything. That part's good.

[Nephryyy...that's not fair! Dist huffs over on his end, turning pink around the cheeks, and debates about twenty different things to say, but instead just quickly scribbles--]

I suppose.

[It takes him a long time to consider the answer, and he sighs in the end.]

Yes and no. I'm unsure which is prevalent, at the moment.

I realize my opinion is biased.

But I would much rather have you alive.

[Gdmit, Nephry, you are just killing him today, aren't you? Dist leans back in his chair, closing his eyes, and lets her words really sink in before he replied. It was kind of nice, really...to think someone actually wanted him alive, despite the atrocities he committed. One of his old and best friends, to boot.

Instead, though, Dist won't address her words. All he'll scribble down, after a very long bout of silence, is this:]

When will you be home, Nephry?

In a few hours, I think. Is there something you need?
